Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Perfect.

Yes. When I go past those tollbooths, my decision is made. Even if I only have one watt left, I will try to get to the top. Which is what it felt like today. It was a hard training week, and this was the capper.

Kudos. I didn't doubt the effort, but ice on the road can be a real problem.

I wish I could do something 1/4 that epic this summer.

If perfectly ripe, the skin will also be slightly tacky with sugary sweetness. Unfortunately, I've found exactly one perfectly ripe honeydew in my life.

Our meet up should exceed that in epicness. If it happens. I could guarantee it if I brought the awesome Marigold jacket.

Several miles into it another guy dropped off, said he had to be somewhere. As soon as the first hills came we lost another one. He hasn't been on the bike but I expected him to stay on a little longer. Found out later he did go about 50 on the day, his longest in years.

We got mixed in with another group and our leaders got ahead so while trying to get back to them my friend was right-hooked by a Mercedes. She skidded and almost hit the car but saved it. We both yelled but the driver didn't even look our way.
Later, I broke a spoke. Jinxed myself the other day when I said I haven't broken one in a long time. I wobbled the last 15 miles back to the car.

My friend called to tell me one of the riders on a different ride was hit by a car. He was descending a curvy road and a driver tried to pass him in a turn and just ran into him. His wife picked him up and took him to the hospital and I don't know what injuries he has. The guy who called said another rider went off on the driver and had to be told to calm down.
Something in the air.

I don't blame him for getting emotional. Driving a car properly is what one signs up for when a license is issued.

Timing.
I asked my brake question (I asked it because at its last service at the dealership, they marked the brakes as yellow), and got my answer. A few hours later my wife comes home and I noticed one of the front tires was low. The one I could see and get to. I took it off to put the dummy spare on, and checked the brake pad while I was at it. There are thousands of miles left on those pads! Nearly 1/4".

Suns and Hawks won today. The Clippers have lost the first, or the first two all the way along, but then come out on top. Not this time.

They were devastated by injuries. Harden came back but was not himself.

The Atlanta Hawks have been a surprise.

when we still lived in charlotte four years ago I took the van to get inspected. The inspector informed us that it wouldn’t pass the next year for tires or brakes and he was pretty pushy about us getting those done then and there. I declined and 4 inspections later in two different states it is still passing.

Hope everyone had a great Father's day, I did. Got to see my grandkids and daughter and sill. Mom and dad. Brothers. No fighting, or arguments. Was a nice day.
Saturday I snuck in a nice 40 miler to test my new Wahoo Roam. It's nice when things work as they are supposed to. It even downloaded my ride to strava before I could even reach for my phone. Like I said, nice. The Roam is a nice unit, good screen bright, easy to read. I like it.
Dr. Visit today, I can hardly wait.....🙄
