LeVar Burton for Jeapordy!

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...interview.html

Apparently since Alex Trebek's death, Jeapordy has been parading through a wide variety of guest hosts. Last week I caught an episode with Savannah Guthrie. She was ok, but I think LeVar Burton would do an amazing job. Now that I've heard he wants it, I can't imagine anybody else fitting better into that unique role of cultural Americana.

He'd be a fine choice. Waaaaaaaay better than Joe Buck.

Mayim Bialik is my favorite guest host so far. Looking forward to seeing LeVar Burton.

I believe OP was referring to Joe Buck.

Who, honestly, I don't get the hate for Joe Buck as a sports announcer. He's a solid play-by-play guy and maybe a little businesslike but that's what the color commentator is for.

But he'd be pretty dry as a Jeopardy host and LeVar Burton is the GOAT.

I did not see her hosting, but I imagine she would also do a great job.

I like the current method of different hosts every couple of weeks. I'm in no hurry to see a permanent one named.

I'm sure LeVar Burton will do a great job.

caloso is right, I was saying I've never heard of Joe Buck. I'm not so much with the sportsball.

Obviously I've heard of LeVar Burton if I'm opining he'd be an excellent host.

I've never actually seen Reading Rainbow, just heard how others loved it so much. I have seen Roots, but I mostly know Burton through TNG, I've dabbled in his current story-reading podcast, and enjoyed a couple good recent interviews (I could have sworn I remember a great conversation with the Two Dope Queens, but now I can't find it). His passion for sharing goodness and beauty out into the world is infectious.

I am of the age that grew up with Reading Rainbow and then as I became a teen I discovered TNG so he always felt like a significant part of my youth. I've also heard a few podcasts with him and he just seems like one of those rare, genuinely good and warm-hearted people.

He also has the potential to be a legendary celebrity in the short list of all time greats of Americana. Alex would've made it so.

Disclosure: I had a Geordi La Forge coffee cup for years.

Mayim Bialik did an excellent job. I think Anderson Cooper has done the best job overall, but I doubt he'd want the gig. Same with Mike Richards. Aaron Rodgers probably exceeded expectations the most, but I can't see him becoming permanent host.

There's a link to a New York Times article about Burton and Jeopardy out today. I just saw the link at Digg but can't read it since it's behind a paywall and I refuse to play their "create an account for limited access" game.

Perhaps some here may be able to view this: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...tm_source=digg

I'd like to see Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond and Norm MacDonald get a shot at guest hosting.

Swords for $1,000.
