Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not many athletic genes in our family.
I have athletic genes in my family - one grandfather was a professional basketball and baseball player in the Teens, and HIS father was a world-class professional sprinter back when it was a betting sport (1880s). But I also have a lot of Couch Potato in my ancestry as well.

It's like longevity - yeah, one Great Grandmother lived to be 100! Another died at 64. One grandfather lived to be 93! The other one went at 69.

64 miles on the disk bike. I think I finally figured out my discontent with that bike. The brake levers/hoods aren't even. The right side is higher than the left. Not a lot but enough that after a few seconds on the hoods I'm fighting with the bars. Probably pull it apart tonight, fix it and rewrap the bars. Also got a clickety bottom bracket, musta caught something talking to Bam about maintenance.
Contador has a rear wheel that rubs under load. 25mm tyres might be to big. I need to figure out a way to test for rubbing. Masking tape inside the stays? I know it rubbed with the 4000s. They were oversized. The 5000 are close to 25mm maybe .5mm over but I think its still hitting. Might be why I climb like poo......aside from the obvious I meen. Might have to ho back to 23mm tyres.

4 hours of yard work activity today made difficult by by the soreness from yesterday's physical therapy. SMDH

Watching Cle vs Oak on the TV. Nap is imminent. Up at 7 for dog walking and inversion activities.

You might not need to unwrap/rewrap, if you can just move one up and the other down, each by just a couple mm. I have a 2 foot long, 1/2" dowel that I place on the brake hoods, and standing right in front of the bike, I look at the gap between the dowel and the bar top. Even a relatively small difference is easy to see.

What you need to do is look at websites of things you can't even hope to afford. The Officina Battaglin YouTube channel is packed with drool-inducing bikes, but since I can't afford one, I'm not tempted!

Oh I've been there. I wasn't even aware Daccordi was still around 'til today. (I'm unlikely to be buying a €1200-1819 frameset anytime soon anyways, well unless it's full suspension)

They even have this frameset built up retro style

I'm considering taking a gig on the wet side of the Cascades, so I should probably think about getting a disc road bike, so I don't have to wash my bike after almost every single ride.

I don't miss returning from rides with wheels looking like this one bit:

How do discs prevent that?

They prevent me from caring about it, so yeah, I'll leave em dirty like that - with discs I don't bother cleaning everyday since there's none of that gritty rim grinding sound when braking

Just got done cutting two yards. I’m beat. Highest I saw was 96 but the humidity was killer.

According to fitbit I have 28,300 steps and the night is still young.

LBS had the BB-16 tool not the BB-10. So I passed.

Im gunna make an attempt after dinner but if I can’t get it then my LBS said they would charge me 30.00 bucks to clean it and put it back together.

One last thing I just thought to check. My rear wheel doesn’t have any play when I check it, but I never actually checked to make sure it was tight.
