Not that I saw in the app. I guess I just got lucky that the driver had a small SUV. I helped him figure out how to lay the seats flat, and everything worked out fine.

Easy mistake to make the way the city limits of Pasadena are laid out. Things are kind of wonky in that area.

was always under the impression that jpl was actually in la cañada but claimed to be located in pasadena for familiarity/prestige/the old joke about not really knowing where you are reasons. people from all over the world have heard of pasadena thanks to the rose bowl/parade but pretty sure la cañada is rocking a lower profile. jpl can keep pulling one over on the masses. whatever works.

Having known quite a few JPL employees, this doesn't totally surprise me - LOL. Besides, he works there, not lives there. He may not be as aware of the quirks of the Pasadena city limits as you and I are.

JPL is technically a Pasadena address, but if you look at the way the city limits are in that area, it's a narrow sliver that juts between La Canada and Altadena. IMO, it's totally understandable that people think it's in LC.

I had to do this last year when my chainrings suddenly came un-bolted on a climb (crankset was eventually replaced as defective under warranty). I made a few calls to wife and friends for a ride, but nobody was available, so I called an UberXL. Costs more than regular UberX, but I knew they could fit the bike.

Everyday I go to work, for the last 30 years, I saw a sign outside the gate, saying "Welcome to the city of La Canada - home of the Jet propulsion Lab". I know the address said Pasadena as that's on my business card.

Hmmmm.. Darn interesting. I've got a friend that works there.... Now I need to ask him what city he thinks JPL is in.

I looked closer at the Pasadena city limits on Google Maps. The city limit line runs through the JPL campus. JPL is in both Pasadena and La Canada. It would seem that both this sign and your business card are correct.

The Hillcrest one. Mission Valley is closer, but I like the ride better to Hillcrest.

yeah if you’re up on the mesa, the hillcrest one works despite being cramped. no big hills to ascend/descend. used to park on the other side of the vermont street bridge in uni heights and hoof it there and back to avoid that parking lot.

Did the Dam ride from Hacienda Hgts over Turnbull Cyn and caught the SGRT. Uneventful except for some light rain coming back through El Monte.
Noticed Lario Park above the Santa Fe Dam area is shutdown and cleaned up. No sign of homeless camps in that area but I'm sure they are in the riverbed.
There was a recent fire above the Nature Center that devastated the cactus gardens along the trails. Too bad!

60 miles and 3250 feet of climb.

The camp at Lario was pretty large, and had been there for a while. Good that the area is cleaned up, but does nothing about solving the actual problem.

Yeah just got back from another ride to the store. I live next to Adams Ave Bikes, so I ride through the neighborhood, and cross that bridge to get there.

On my way a guy was coming out of the bike shop with a 36" carbon wheels on his bike! I should've taken a pic.

Awesome! I have never been to Santa Fe Dam paths. Do you need to pay admission to access the area? Thanks.

classic. that's my shop. the owner, chuck, and martin (mar-teen) that's usually behind the sales counter do a nice job.
lived a block away next to the ne corner of adams and oregon for 6.5 years. just moved in early june. already miss the
walkability/rideability of that neighborhood but try to ride through every week or so. have only been able to drop off a sixer of ipa
at the shop once since the move. may stop by next tuesday.

Only vehicles have to pay. Nice path during the weekday when it's quiet. Can get very busy on the weekends.

no. it's free. just be very careful entering/exiting the dam area from the south. lots of fast traffic. there is a stoplight but you know
how some cyclists can't be bothered with those.

45-spot starting in escondido and heading west on harmony grove rd. hung a right on questhaven rd and grabbed that nearly a mile's worth of dirt.
it had rained a little in the last few hours so it was still firm enough to get through without dismounting or crudding up the wheels/drivetrain. popped back
out into civilization near double peak and descended to/past san elijo hills. left on rancho santa fe rd through olivenhain and took that all the way
to the coast highway in cardiff. coast highway for a few miles, then bounced inland via palomar airport rd. wide bike lane but equivalent to
riding on a freeway since some of the traffic hits 60+ mph. a little stop at pizza port bressi ranch carlsbad for **ahem** pizza. riiiight. back on
palomar airport rd to san marcos and following the ca hwy 78 corridor back to the start. overcast the entire ride and a bit breezy (3/4 headwind
riding north) along the coast. hounded by six e-bikers during the stoplight sequencing between leucadia and palomar airport rd in carlsbad.
annoying but probably prodded me to ride faster into that 3/4 headwind for a few miles.
