Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The weather forecast for today was showers turning into light rain, so I opted to Zwift instead of riding IRL. To avoid a long story, let's just say that although I did get in 40 virtual miles and 4600 virtual feet of climbing, it was a big PITA to do it, requiring restarting Zwift and then fixing the time stamp on a .fit file covering the first 45 minutes, and uploading it to Strava. Finally finished up after about 3 hours.

When I come back up the stairs, I discover IT NEVER F***ING RAINED AT ALL!!!!!!! I could have ridden on the road, and avoided all that hassle. Grrrrrr.....

In other lawnmower news. I bought a battery mower for $175 when they first came out. Worked OK as long as the grass was short. After 2 years the battery died. New battery..$175. The gas mower I replaced it with lasted so long the tires actually wore out. Put new wheels on in for $100. Then the motor quit. Put a new carb on it, and it ran like crap. Wife said just get a new one. NOT after that investment. Cleaned the old carb, and now it's back to it's old self, almost.

The church I mow at has a Honda mower. Went through several wheels that wore out. Eventually the frame cracked at the discharge area . . . but the engine kept on ticking. We finally retired it three years ago because we didn't want to sink any more money into it. I don't know for sure, but I imagine it was from the '90s.

I do not know the weight.

Because it's been a couple months since I've had to repair an appliance...

Yeah, the wife starts yelling for me from the basement. Washing machine is spilling water from underneath. After upending it and poking around, it looks like it's just a glorified hose that's sprung a leak, but it's going to be 40 bucks and 4 days waiting on a replacement.

Yeah, imagine the heat buildup at those RPMs. Maybe some cooling fins on the casters would help.
