Celebrate your Schwinn’s special day
However you refer to the date stamp on you Schwinn’s head badge (build date, birthday, creation date....) I think it deserves annual recognition.
My 1986 Voyageur is stamped 1116 so 4/21 is day 111 in a non leap year. It’s still cold here so I put on my best winter gear and took it for a ride today to celebrate it’s 35th year of existence. It’s the least I could do for such a dependable machine.

I’ll have to wait until November 22 to celebrate my Voyageurs 41st birthday. I presume Badger biker, you’re a Wisconsinite. I’m in nearby Minnesota and yes it is still cold here. Probably gonna be cold on November 22nd too, so I see know reason to wait, I’ll be out celebrating your Schwinns birthday with a ride on my Voyageur.

Is there a Schwinn head tube badge thread on the C&V forum where you can log your 4-digit number, model, and user name?

I've got a Jan 21 78 and a April 5 83, neither get much chance of birthday rides. We've had snow the last couple of days, and the county poured salt all over the roads.

Been a huge Paramount fan most of my life, couldn't believe it when this was outed here and I was able to get my hands on it.
Especially since it was/is in fantastic condition and mostly original.
And it came with that to me cool as heck shipping label.

I literally typed "what day of the year is 112" and Feb 11 was the date the search engine returned ,,, and without thinking about what I had just typed, and simultaneously with the 13 month old grandaughter throwing her bowl of mac'n cheese on the floor, I hit "submit reply".

My Cimarron’s date is 2 days before my Voyageur but I had surgery on my finger Monday so didn’t take it out. So today I made up for it and rode it for a celebration beer.

1528 Leap year, so 31 May 1988
This is consistent w/ the F8... serial number (see signature), which indicates a June 1988 build.
Some bikes don't need no decorations for a 4th of July parade.
Independence Day 2019, with Grandpa trying to keep up with grandson number two, Erik E., in his mommy-powered MiniCooper.

(13) Schwinn's (not including some parted out frames) the pandemic hobby was collect and recreate my 80's Schwinn Local Bike Shop - I now have most of the bikes I used to drool over in the yearly catalogues....the thought now is what have I done
Most of these are very nice original paint and with a few exceptions. this year I spend the most time on the '80 Chrome Voyageur and the '87 Cimarron. The '87 Tempo is next up to become a regular rider.
I like the idea of riding them on their born on dates,
'78 LeTour III (built at as single speed gravel bike)
'80 Chrome Voyageur 25" (last season's daily rider)
'80 Chrome Voyageur (upgraded to modern components) 25" - Daily Rider
'81 Le Tour (unbuilt New Old Stock Frame) 25"
'84 Voyageur ( unbuilt New Old Stock Frame) 25"
'87 Cimarron 23" - daily rider, grocery getter, light mountain biking
'87 Prelude 25" (very nice original)
'87 Tempo 25" - 7/8/87 (very nice Original)
'87 Super Sport 24" (nice original)
'87 Traveler 25" (nice original)
'87 LeTour 25" 11/25/87
'88 Premis 25" - 2/3/98 (very nice original)
'88 World 25"

I bought a Sierra for my daughter and this thread was enlightening. I didn’t know about the date stamp.
January 5 1987
We’ll have to wait to next year.

@casanewt posted his recently acquired 1983 Super Sport SP last night in the Late 80's Schwinn thread. Turns out we both have Super Sport SPs built on April 11, 1983. Now we are waiting on a serial number comparison.

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.
