I think I need an offset seatpost

My Trek 820 seems to fit well enough other than I find myself sitting overly rearward on the seat.
A quick look around and it seems that the stock seatpost is a 29.2 12mm offset, I think about
twice the offset would suit me. I google'd and amazon'd around a bit and the results were
inconclusive, can anyone point me to a suitable seatpost? I'm just an around town
light trail kind of rider.

If you're sitting too far rear, it's possible the saddle could be too low, rather than too aft. Before getting a new post, try raising the saddle 5 - 10 mm, see if that changes things.

I have this one, seems to fit your bill perfectly, and of course sold out at the moment.

Do you sit upright on your bike? Then you have the wrong bike. You need to look for one that has less seat tube angle, or a more acute angle to the chain stays so the bb is further in front of you.

That's really all you are doing by getting a seat post with more setback. Artificially changing the seat tube angle.

But the comments about saddle height might be right too. Along with is the frame too small for you?
