Bottom Bracket Spindles - What Happened?
Getting ready to convert a 70ish Peugeot Mixti from a Cottered Crank to a Square tapered Crank. Not long ago I would just get a 5SB spindle and that worked fine with the thin French cups. My dilemma is now I can't find one, or for that matter any...
5SB - 32 - 55 - 37.5 - 124.5
or
5N - 32 - 55 - 35 - 125
Can someone point me to a resource for square tapered spindles?
And if not, is there a suitable cartridge for this old french bike?
Or, am I going to have to start looking around for some French cotters to put the old crank back on?

.
...mostly people buy a cartridge with French threading from Velo Orange nowadays.
Not sure if you want to spend 50 bucks to convert a mixte, but that's what I use if I need square taper French BB.

You could get a threadless BB designed for a bike with damaged threads. Sunlite makes an inexpensive one,

Amazon used to sell cheap french bottom bracket cups but that is no longer available.

"SOLVED"
OK... So when re-greasing the bottom bracket on my old Ted Williams I remembered I had put away a few things in an old bin that was buried beneath all the Boy Scout Camping stuff. After digging it out, there in a cookie tin was... a brand new 5S-B spindle! Also a 3A... Happy HAPPY, Joy JOY Stempy!!!
