I'd email the Wabi Cycles guy and ask him for an honest opinion on whether these wheels are suited for a 215 rider.

I don't think he's going to lie to you.

Then post his response in this thread so the next guy doesn't have to ask the same question.

I know it sounds like the opposite of conventional wisdom and all, but I'd kinda recommend sending them an email.
The problem with calling is that, if he doesn't know, he's not really in a position to go find out while you're on the line. He's gotta just say "I dunno."
With an email, he can forward it to someone who knows, or do a little digging to find the answer.

Someone over at Wabi has to know what kind of rider weight this wheelset is built for.

Hi Dionis,

There's no specific weight limit on the wheels. Obviously, you have to
exercise some care, but assuming no pot holes or sideways skids, etc., the
wheels will do fine. I have several 200+ lb customers on the wheels. One of
the main issues is to keep the tires fully inflated to avoid v-ing the rims.

that's what i got when i emailed them.

richard is pretty fast in replying to emails. he told me there was an expected price increase to the wheels in the next few months, better decide.

American classics mag wheelset is said to hold 140lbs so that means your wheelset can easily hold 200.

Considering it isnt made of mag..

If its built correctly you'll be fine

including lockring, bolts, and rim tape - alot of companies measure without them.

i really dont see why its not good for "aggressive street riding" as they are both 32 hole, 3x laced. they should be plenty strong as long as you get them trued after the first 500 miles, which you need to do with most wheelsets anyway. then it should be fine for thousands of miles afterward.

hey when the reviewer says...
"Not to knock your style, but if you've never ridden a reasonably light set of wheels like these ( Richard says 1,750 gm for the pair ) with a supple tire .... well, suffice to say that it'll make your bike feel like a Ferrari if you've been riding EighthInch Julians with a Fyxation 28mm tire strapped to it."

What are some examples of a "supple tire"?
I was thinking of a Wabi wheelset with 700x25 ThickSlicks (urban elite), but those are kinda heavy it seems, and maybe not what most would call supple?

@hamfoh - thread is very old fyi. I just dug it up to get some suggestions of supple tires to use with this wheelset cuz I didn't want to start a new thread just for that.

supple tires = no flat protection, right?
because if so, then i'm fine with my big heavy tires that rarely go flat.
but if anyone can suggest a tire that is kinda supple while still providing flat protection...?

If you wanted a tire thread, bumping a wheelset thread is kinda o_O

anyway -- I hate thickslicks personally

I'm okay with a bit more rolling resistance to change fewer flats. Just go with the usual suspects gatorskins, tourgards, etc. I've had 1 flat on gatorskins in 2 years of using them as tires and it was an area where any tire would've gotten a flat I think. still haven't got a flat on my tgs and I did an 80 mile ride on those last month

have had GP24s on my road bikes in the past (and then they came on my focus). no issues with those either, but they seem like they would be more prone to a flat

I am about 220 pounds and I use the cheapest tires I can find and I've only had two flats, one was jumping a curb at around 80psi on 23s and the second was because a car hit my front wheel, the rim stayed true (not bad bikes direct) but the tube was almost cut in half

Edit: mOral of the story is don't forget to inflate your tires and avoid potholes+ glass and you'll be ok
