New Year's Day Ride
Post your rides from 1/1/2020... tomorrow is too late!
I took my New Masi 3V Volumetrica out for a ride. I love to see it in the sunlight! A couple of tweaks were needed on the maiden voyage. I rode about 26 miles, and I can say, my perineum is not used to 1980's style saddles anymore... I think I need a cut out of some sort! Ride is FANTASTIC! i was worried after reading reviews from back in the day, that it was too stiff and uncomfortable... I didn't find that to be true. Not as plush as my Ciocc, but a lot lighter. The ride was pretty comparable to my CF Pinarello, stiff where needed, and compliant where needed, and handles like a race car!

I rode 22 miles today on my super vitus anquetil. 38 degrees, sunny and gusty in Cranston, Coventry and Scituate RI. Hit a pothole 10 miles in and broke a spoke. Only rubbed brake pad not chain stay.
The cannon was founded at the Hope Furnace in Scituate in 1776 for the fledgling U.S. Navy.

I managed to fit in a 20-miler before it got dark. We drove back from Portland, ME, this morning where there was a foot of snow on the ground, to Boston, where it was high 30s and snowless.

No pictures, but my buddy Kevin and I took our Vitus 979s out for our usual ~20mi loop around the Cambridge reservoir. My first time on clipless pedals in ten years, been using toe clips since then. I didn't fall over and my knees didn't complain much! Bonus is I could wear my neoprene booties and stay warm. They don't really fit in the usual straps and the rubber soles are pretty soft, but have cleat holes.
Kevin's seatpost was slipping down, so we stopped at the top of Mackerel Hill in Waltham and he got out a whopping seven-inch-long allen key to nip it up ...and snapped the Campagnolo binder bolt. Predictably.
Unpredictably, within minutes a passer-by who lived around the corner invited us back to his place and gave us a cheap quick-release binder and we could complete our ride! It was so nice and we plan to leave him some gift in return next time we pass by there.

No picture for me either. I started 2020 today with a 21 mile ride on my early '90s Ochsner. I had not been on it for a couple of months. Once I get settled in on the bike and get used to the feel of it again, I love riding it. However, I am seriously considering changing the DT shift levers to STI brifters. I have said that before, but I always wind up keeping it as is. I run a 10 speed cassette, 12/28, levers in friction mode, and it shifts great. That is with the original crank set but 50-38 tooth rings.

Work commute. (Sometimes they sweeten the pot just enough.) An uptempo 4.5 miles each way on the single-speed Raleigh. Not ideal, but the weather was perfect and traffic was light. I'll take it.

Only 13 miles today, nice day, just lazy. I'm starting my 56th year riding my '64 Legnano Roma Olympiad, had since new. We've had lots of adventures together over the years, racing as a junior racer, college commutes, local touring, two Eroicas, playing tag with the modern carbon on club rides, and growing old together. Looking forward to more miles and smiles in 2020. I also posted this on the General Cycling Forum, before I saw this thread.

mgopack42 - I was wondering if you would bring the Masi to town for the club New Years muffin ride, but I guess that's a long round trip for a short, flat ride. My round trip was 42 miles to start the year, including a few dirt/gravel miles in Woodward Park for a little early Eroica prep.
You know, all I wanted was short and flat, first ride on the HORRIBLE saddle!
I have kind of slowed way down on FCC rides in the last year. First i was training, and doing intervals, and then i had a hard time finding rides that were with a challenging group, but not a killer group. Do we know each other? I dont recognise that bike! I didnt know there were any FCC guys on this forum.

Sad but true. I wouldn’t mind it so much, if they just make sure they’ve actually passed you, before cutting back over in front of you. 😒
Back on topic, I did right around 20 miles on New Year’s Day, on the ‘95 Killer V. I found some trails around Apache Junction to explore, but the mileage isn’t marked, and I never worry much about exact mileage anyways. 😁😉
