What is my Vintage Bianchi worth?
Hi all,
I’m new to this forum and don’t have much to offer in terms of knowledge. I’m seeking some info on my dads bike. He’s wanted to know what it was worth. He bought it in Italy in the 1970s and brought it back here to Canada. He was never able to use it due to a back injury so it’s in mint condition as well as mint color!! It says campione del mondo 1973-1974 on it. It has stitched handlebars, a black velvet seat and campagnolo gear system. Any idea what it might be worth?

The markings on as described were on virtually every Bianchi of that era. Really need to see clear pics of the bike, from the side with the gears preferrably. Always good to see closer shots of the mechanical parts and any decals, any numbers you see stamped into the seat post, or the underside of the bike.

It would also be helpful to know the mechanical state of the bike: Has it been properly re-greased and serviced in the last 1-3 years, the last 5-10 years, or more than 10 years ago? etc.

The subject bicycle is a 1975-1976 Bianchi Specialissima Barcelona, which was the top model at the time. The components are first generation Campgnolo Super Record. It appears to be in excellent condition. All this adds up to a rare and very desirable bicycle. To the right person, this could be worth $2000-$2500 CDN. I'd be putting this one on ebay to maximize exposure.

Lovely, but jeeze I cannot get over the lackluster Bianchi head badges of the era. So many great examples, and they chose this! Excellent bicycle nonetheless.

It is incredible what great care was taken to preserve this bike for 45-some years! That bike will certainly sell for top dollar to a serious collector. One of the actors must have been riding one of these during the filming of Breaking Away?

A part of me though would almost rather see it with the honest wear of a couple of decades use and thin paint on the top tube from sweat -- maybe some mismatched components from replacements over the years
all of which would signify my relative spent some serious time enjoying the sport

Is that Bianchi label style (with the simple dash in front and behind the name) only from the mid 70’s?
I want to ID my Bianchi and this is the only picture I’ve seen that has the same Bianchi label graphic. I also have the name Bianchi cast into the top of my forks, where this one has just the letter B.
I’ll start another thread as soon as I get some pictures.
