New Pasela 27 x 1 1/8

These tires are way undersized. They measure just short of an inch wide on old 70's Weinmann rims. Hope they stretch. In the past I have had Paselas in 1" and 1 1/4". The 1 1/4s were fat tires and kinda slow feeling. The 1"ers were nice but thought I would go inbetween this time. But this is the newer version of the Pasela. Different tread pattern and I think lighter weight also. Darn expensive too.

Interesting. I've got modern 27 x 1 1/8 non-PT Paselas measuring a bit over 26mm on Sun M13II rims, which have a very narrow inner width of 13mm.

What's the inner width of your Weinmann rims? Do they have unusually tall sidewalls above the bead seat?

I just mounted a new pasela non PT 27X 1 1/4 on some old weinmans and it measured 30mm, so a bit narrow too. Maybe it will plump up a bit, and perhaps yours too. Kenda 1 1/4s were 31mm.

"Old Weinmanns" can be as narrow as 12.7mm inside, or as wide as 18mm I believe.

On Mod58 rims with a modest 16mm inside width, I found the former Pasela 1-1/4" tire to have a full 32mm width measured across the sidewalls.

And I've got 1" Paselas mounted on wide-style Araya rims that plump out to a full 26mm wide.

Oops, I should have said weinmann 18mm as on a vintage Schwinn. 1 1/4 now at 30.5, and haven’t hit the road yet.

I just fitted some 1-1/4 Protite Paselas and they come up just on 29mm.

So my Weimanns are the 18mm inside width. 1 1/8 tires messuring 25mm. Not the ride I was expecting. Of course you cant SEE anything before you purchase it these days. With everyone touting wider tires Panaracer produces all their tires undersized. Give me a Michelin Fifty please.

Pasela 1-1/8" from five years ago, on your wide rims, would have measured all of 28mm even brand new, and might grow nearly another mm over a week of riding.

What pressure is in the tires when measuring them?

I typically measure a tire this size at a 90psi reference pressure but would pump to 100psi initially.

Some early-70's Weinmann rims w/o bead hooks may not allow inflation past 75psi or so, it's a QC issue with the rims (my 1971 Supersport comes to mind).

Let us know where these end up width-wise.

I've got 27 x 1-1/4 Continental Ultrasport 3s fitted not long ago to my Paris-Sport. They look generously sized; I've just measured them and they're bang on 32mm wide.
