Thin Pad Cycling Shorts - Bib or Bibless

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thin Pad Cycling Shorts - Bib or Bibless

Just wondering if anyone knows which apparel makers offer shorts with a thin pad - it's hard to know from many of the item descriptions , thanks in advance !!

Kurcharik offers a variety of pads, including traditional leather. If you buy their shorts, you can select which pad to go in them. Or, they can replace the pad in your current shorts with the pad of your choice.

Aero Tech Pro Shorts have the thinnest chamois I've found. The black and tan pad is the closest I've seen to old school chamois leather pads. It's thin, not at all dense like foam or gel pads, with a bit of loft that compresses over time. Very soft and comfortable, although as I've lost weight and fat on my butt I've had to move to thicker, denser pads.

The material on the Pro Short is thinner than most cycling shorts/bibs, with very little compression. They feel and fit more like underwear. I mostly wear them under baggy shorts or jeans for casual rides on my hybrid.

You'll need to contact Aero Tech to find out whether they supply any of their bibs with that pad. I might consider Aero Tech bibs with the Pro pad, but only if the fabric offered more compression and fit longer and closer to the knee.
