Steamy morning here as well.

Swapped over some Soma Highway One bars, the shallower drop feels much more natural. Hadn't ridden this bike in a while and had a blast

Out to the Ravine Gardens again this Sunday, left early to avoid the heat so I was pleased to see this independent coffee truck, great place and right near the return trail!

Ravine Gardens has a paved, one way, 2 mile perimeter ride that has a little of it all, climbs, turns and unique (a waterfall!) scenery. I usually take the 16 mile ride out there, cross the 65 ft bridge, ride the Perimeter trail a couple of times and ride back.

9 miles of dirt on my old dog. My loop included a tough 2.5mi climb that takes me just under 30 min, followed by a couple of descent options of varying technical demand. I opted for the less-demanding option this time. This bike is just fun...even when the riding is hard.

Steamrolled into the empty lot that passes for downtown and came upon this rack of citizen bikes. All brand new and shiny ugly and not once have I seen a person pedaling one around. Another fruitful idea rotting on the vine. A few street guys are down the block and that's about all that's moving on this 105 heat indexed sunday AM. headed to the MacDs for some health food and then who knows...

Not much of a pic but in the 50s this boarded up building used to be a Negro barber shop /domino hall and once when Joe Louis came to town to visit Ben Roger's wife, the Ben Rogers of Caesar's Palace fame, he supposedly got his hair cut here and lost over $1000 playing high stakes moon .....................................................................as for me I was here because I got caught in a Sunday morning thunderstorm and took shelter in the alley

rode down by the port. those 2 big boats are MARAD resupply vessels that used to ferry military hardware back and forth to Iraq and Pakistan. Lately they just stay tied up at the port. One of the crew on the Cape Texas is a girl with a fixed gear. She's got some interesting stories about being a sea person. I hung around and tried to see if she was on deck but no luck. too bad cause I could have got some pics on board. 0 well, maybe next sunday

rode the WABI through Sunday morning's empty streets and when I got by the port I saw a bunch of Black Hawks and other choppers landing ... I guess these are the ones that we didn't leave in Afghanland

As the days shorten and get colder I find posting here the odd Sunday valuable motivation. Had a soggy trip today.

It's been a little while.

Unfortunately took a little spill today. Was paying attention to what a car was doing and didn't notice a big pothole. Had my hands loosely on the bars and they slipped off. Thankfully a low speed affair so nothing more than a couple of bruises and a torn knee warmer

Short ride

I only did 5 miles Sunday. My new tire came in but 1 had a bad tread pattern causing a bump every rotation of the wheel. 5 miles was all I could stand. Today I ordered a new 1. I must say. Modernbike seems like a good source for things, they were very prompt in getting me a return label, and ordering another tire.
