It was a good day in Portland…..
There was the Chris King open house.
got to geek out with Chris on his 1972 Cinelli and why the components he has. Example, switched out the Campy NR RD for sun tour to Accommodate his campy triple crankset.
saw all the machinery to create the magic.
saw amazing small producer bikes and see the future as it unfolds. Stunning.
I feel like a poser wearing a jersey when I actually drove there, unlike our own Merziac who rode in, despite presidential traffic. (Biden was in town)
This is in front of Chris King’s personal steed that he rode from the Bay Area to Portland.
Greta in the back of Framebuilder Oscar’s awesome land rover. (Simple bikes)

and, our own Merziac gave me his drink ticket.

Those noisy freehubs - King gave a few prototypes to users to put through the paces. Focus was on getting them to work. Sound was an issue to address at the next stage. (Why do all the additional machining for quiet when it's 50-50 you're going to be machining more of the same parts from scratch for Mark II.) But the testers raved about the sound!

While this thread has gone sideways, Here in the west coast most of our glass supplies are from China. Because of the high cost of transportation for empty bottles, two businesses have emerged, one in NAPA valley and one in Kalama WA providing glass to the Washington and Oregon wine industries.
I don't own a Chris King product. But, he has been very active in supporting the local cycling community. The open house showcased other local cycling producers and products including the new Benson High School frame building program teaching kids much needed skills to enter the workforce.
I will admit, during the tour where everything minus the anodizing is done in-house. a rear hub was passed around and the only thing I noticed was how loud it was.
HOWEVER, it did not detract from what a beautiful day it was.

Just curious - any idea when Chris King will make more of this tool? I have 2 wheel sets with Chris King hubs (R45’s?) and would like to be able to service them when needed.

I was told they are selling like crazy. so I hope this caddy will sell well too. I have not seen it on their webpage yet. but this tool is just a all in one tool veres the individual ones.
