Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano Di2 and Dropper Posts

Hi all,

im looking to see if anyone has had experience using dropper posts with Di2 road levers. My initial thought was:

-GRX left side dropper post lever (ST-RX810)
-paired with an older Ultegra 11speed Di2 rear lever (but finding one that fits the profile of the GRX lecer)
-then replacing the GRX grip/lever itself with an identical Ultegra lever to ensure they match in appearance and fit

so essentially, I’m looking to make sure both levers look and feel the same - while maintaining the functionality of the actual GRX dropper lever.

Welcome all thoughts / suggestions / prior experiences.

I don't understand what you're saying. "paired with an older Utegra lever (...that fits the profile of the GRX lever)? How do you plan on doing that? So you've got a 1x? Why would you even bother putting a GRX lever on "then replacing the GRX lever itself with an identical Ultegra lever..."? Your post makes no sense as written.

-I have a 1x system, with a dropper post
-I want to use the GRX dropper post lever, but with a Di2 rear lever
-the Di2 rear lever (ideally) needs to have the same outer shape/grip as the GRX lever
-would (ideally) be looking for a Di2 lever that matches the outer grip, and then just replace/repair the (lever only, not entire mechanism) on the GRX dropper so they both look / are badged identically as Ultegra

I think that ST-RX815-R and ST-RX810-LA is probably the closest match you're going to find. Why do you want to de-badge them and re-badge them as Ultegra? I don't think you'll end up with anything prettier than the way the parts came out of the box.

You might be able to take the mechanism out of the GRX lever and put it into an Ultegra lever so they match but I'm betting the odds of that working are extremely low. You'll never get an Ultegra lever to look/feel like a GRX lever.
