The Shawshank Redemption, (9.5/10) Still amazing after all these viewings (and wayyyy better than the novella). If I had to be picky, I did notice a few more "liberties" with the story to arrive at the conclusion but everything's just so satisfying you don't care.

Knives Out, 8.5/10. Excellent cast, excellent plot, a great take on the classic Christie tropes. (A heck of a lot better than Branagh's mess of the Orient Express last year)

The Irishman - 8/10. You might think Scorsese/De Niro/Pesci gangster movies was a stale formula, but somehow it's not.

Finally got to see Joyeux Noel. Movie about the WW I Christmas truce. Pretty good 7.5/10. It is free on Sony/Crackle if you withstand many commercials interruptions.

6 Underground
6/10
A Michael Bay production starring Ryan Reynolds in his typical sarcastic mode. This go-round however, he plays an eccentric billionaire who (along with 5 other experts he recruits and convinces to fake their deaths and join his team) is bent on ridding the world of evil. They become a part of his "no names" vigilante justice force to over-throw a ruthless dictator who uses poison gas on his own people.
6 Underground is a fast paced adrenaline pumping action movie with great location scenes, car chases and in the action camera shots. Unfortunately, this presentation comes replete with the requisite gun fire, bombs and explosions we've all come to know and expect from Michael Bay.
The movie might have been acceptable (the stunts, and those camera angles through the chase scenes) if it weren't for the unending flow of gratuitous violence, e.g. graphic, slow motion bullets effects through the brain, decapitations and impalement that allow for only one brief line of redemption -- spoken during a hospital visit -- throughout the entire movie.

It was boring, overlong, and far too full of itself to be enjoyable. Total waste of 4 hours which you will never get back. 2/10. Watch SpongeBob instead.

The Biggest Little Farm 8/10. An enjoyable if somewhat unrelatable movie. A couple decides they want to take up farming and do so not a little bit at a time (i.e.; starting slow and gradually scaling up as they become more experienced and knowledgeable). No they are all in from the get go - soil reclamation, orchards, livestock, etc. None the less it was fun to see the land be transformed and the cinematography was excellent.

I watched The Christmas Chronicles. It is a Netflix movie with Kurt Russel playing a crusty Santa. Sleigh crashes and some plucky, yet troubled, brother and sister help save Christmas. As you might expect, it is a little sappy. Maybe a step below The Santa Clause movie. Good CGI though. 6/10.

I saw Get the Gringo last night. Far fetched, fully implausible, but damn good entertainment. For me anyway.
However, there are a lot of non-subtitled Spanish language scenes, which sure made me wish I'd kept up with my Spanish.
Still, an 8 out of 10.

Saw Genius last night on the Roku.
Big budget, A-list actors, perhaps more appreciated by literary types. Still entertaining enough that this non-literary type gives it 6.5 out of 10 stars.
