Kermie, Thanks for posting the link to the purple Da Vinci. I bought it. It's an oldie but in good condition. We're used to a Da Vinci, but looking forward to my stoker trying the SoftRide suspension and the couplers will give us better travel options.

Lictgrau, I'm also really curious to see how this 'purple arrow' rides for my stoker She generally liked the low-end Bontrager suspension post on our Trek T900. She is okay with the Thudbuster on our Da Vinci Grand Junction. We have rough roads where we live. I don't know whether she's going to love the SoftRide or look like she's on a pogo stick. Either way, I figure we should get some style points with that color scheme and the seemingly odd absence of some frame parts After we get it and give it try, I'll post.

We live in CO Springs and saw it on craigslist based on my alerts. We really thought about buying it as I want a Davinci for the really wide gear ratios, but we previously had a soft ride and my wife didn't like it as she felt like she was bouncing up and down on each pedal stroke.

Glad someone bought them both as they were great value for coupled davinci's.

I found a 2004 post from someone from SoftRide Bike, as follows:

"Softride currently has two beams in the market that offers all the performance advantages of beam technology. The Classic beam is offered in two different spring rates to accommodate virtually any application - you decide how stiff or soft you like it. The Softride beam, both Classic and Rocket, are the only two beams in the market with controlled damping. jethro00 So as a follow up to your purchase, have you 2 been able to get a ride in. The concern I had with that bike was the softride post as well. Just curious how it's going. I'm glad you picked it up, as I kept getting tempted every time I saw it posted, as that color is spectacular

Kermie, we have not taken a ride yet. daVinci handled the packing and shipping, and did a good job of getting it to us in good shape in a 7-foot long box. However, to get it in the box, they disassembled all cables, the derailleur, the Softride beam, bars, etc. I am having a bit of difficulty figuring out exactly how everything should go back together. I have sent a few emails trying to get a manual on the Softride beam to make sure I assemble it correctly and to see if is allows for any adjustment. I should have asked daVinci to make a video of the disassembly

Well, we took our Symbiosis out for its maiden ride this morning. I got a guy who has a 1-man bike shop to come and help me reassemble it to make sure it was done right. Due to time of day and traffic, my stoker opted for me to test it alone last night. Okay, maybe she was thinking someone needed to live to tell the tale and that would be her We rode for about 45 minutes this morning. My stoker did not have a problem with the suspension beam. She could make it bounce for fun and bounced on some bumps. But, she rode fine and I did not feel any problems when she bounced. It was a "soft ride" given the terrain. Time will tell whether our derrières will adapt to the Brooks saddles the sellers generously included. We're used to Cloud Nines but will give the Brooks saddles a try for a while. So, our first impression is favorable. My stoker has 3 suspensions to choose from: Basic up-and-down Bontrager on the Trek T900; Thudbuster on daVinci Grand Junction; and, SoftRide suspension beam on Symbiosis. Is she spoiled or what

Up for sale is a gorgeous handmade Terry Osell fillet brazed steel tandem, with campagnolo dropouts. It comes decked out with top of the line parts from its era, and has been meticulously maintained. There are some minor scuffs and dings, but absolutely nothing structural, and the original paint still shines in the sun.
