Three GIOS Bicycles

Before the pandemic, I was organizing a monthly steel bike ride in Durango, and I thought I should try and get them organized again. I was able to get a small group organized for this morning. Durango is a cycling town, but the interest in classic bikes is minimal. I get a lot of long looks and questions as to why I waste my time riding those old things....... However, a couple of my local friends have GIOS compact frames and I own a 1979 GIOS Super Record, and we thought it would be fun to get the three bikes together. The weather people were calling for rain today, but it held off and we got a nice ride in this morning. Unfortunately, I only managed to get another friend to take one picture of the three of us with our GIOS bicycles. My '79 Super Record is one of my favorite bikes in my collection not only for the stunning blue color, but because it rides so well............

Compact, Compact, and a Super Record!

Real nice guys! I have a Compact Pro - mid 90's - that I like a lot.

Here's a pic to join the party.

I have a Brooklyn jersey for when I ride my Gios, but those red and white stripes aren't so flattering on me. They tend to be quite a bit more curved.

-----

the GIOS agent for the U.S. market for a number of years was FAMA Sales Co. of NYC

it was a business which dealt in espresso machines rather than bicycles

evidently owner Ugo Quazzo was on good terms with someone at GIOS...

.
...the Gios Compact I have here is one of the faster bicycles I own and ride. It might be too fast for me at this point. When I bought it, used, I switched it out to Dura Ace.

You need more!
In addition to the cap, you need the Brooklyn socks, Brooklyn musette, some Marresi 'pizza' shoes, the Brooklyn bidon, and a coffee mug
Anything less is underdressed!
If you want the Brooklyn artwork to make your own Brooklyn bidon decal, coffee mug, or any other excesses, message me.
