Any idea what year this is? I've been trying to place mine for a while now. All the info I can find on them doesn't match the paint scheme with the internal routing. Best I can do is an '84.

I've posted this bike all over, but it is French! I have no idea what year, other than sometime in the 70s. Motobecane Mirage, maybe? Bought it for $70 and it needs a lot of work but I'm already in love...

My mid-80's (?) Mirage Sport. Some will cry foul on the single speed conversion but for my needs zipping around Center City Phila, it's perfect (I kept the parts!). The chainring bolts came loose recently on the way to work and destroyed the drive side crank and chainring, but another forum member has graciously decided to part with a spare he had. Also gives me a reason to get dirty and git it a much needed cleaning. I've been trying to find the exact year, but all the documentation I can find doesn't match the color scheme with the components and/or internal routing. The search continues!

Awesome looking ride! That thing must be fast, I'm sure. Have a close up of that rear wheel? I've never seen a set up like that.

With the vertical dropouts I had to get a chain tensioner to take up the slack in the chain. This one's a Forte from Performance Bike, and while it's been fine for what I need, it is starting to show some wear. If I did it again I would spend the extra coin and get a Surly tensioner or something a little beefier. The Forte one has definitely given me my moneys worth though. You could always use an old derailleur (sans cables and such of course), but that was a little ghetto for my needs.

Thanks! It sure is. Always surprises me how light it is as well. This is the best I could do while at work. I'll grab a better one later.

I've been waiting for this thread to pop back up. No pictures. Last Saturday I was watching a movie titlied "The Train." Great movie set in the final days of WWII. Set in France with the plot about the Resistance's effort against the Germans and a train. About 45 minutes in a French bike plays a big part in the movie for about 5-10 minutes! Very nice looking bike. Looks like something Davey Yates would find.
Give the movie a watch. If you like trains, a must see.

Np. I'm with you on that one. Always amazes me how many beautiful bikes there are out there. It is my main ride. Been riding it for a couple years now and use it for pretty everything. Haven't filled up my gas tank in a month!
