Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The Hu - Mongolian rock band - pretty cool sound.

I play this on my hill climb route. Gets me motivated to get out of the saddle and grind the hill, especially the last song below with Jacoby Shaddix singing with them.

Yup! It has a primordial rhythmic beat that cuts to the soul of who we are as humans.

For real... I am really enjoying this voyage into The HU. I didn't know anything about this band and I love what you've allowed me to discover.

I have had Sound of Silence stuck in my head all day...though I looked it up on the google tubes and instead of Simon and Garfunkel being the first hit, it was Disturbed...that made me disturbed. Not that I don't think their cover was good (I mean Paul Simon endorsed it and I do think it is good) but Simon and Garfunkel were just "other recordings of the song" along with two artists I have never heard of. Duh fuq is wrong with this world.

Sure they may have had their personal issues (and still do) but to have them relegated to second place is just wrong.

Anywho here they are at one of their reunion shows in Central Park:

I usually listen to the greatest stadium rock band in history (when Lou Gramm was the singer) before my morning rides.

I think I like it? Perhaps even a lot?

Definitely interesting, definitely out of my wheelhouse, definitely something I'm gonna listen to several dozen times this week. Much obliged.

*edit: Ok yeah I really dig this. Their KEXP set is gold:
