I have to say, I just LOVE the way you use the non-verbal aspects of the comic. Yehuda's "!" with the pothole made me spit coffee on the keyboard.

Now, I must go and remove half the gadgets from my handlebars....

Does anybody else pick up on the fact that Fred isn't real in the comic? at least, in the flesh and blood sense?

Is Fred a ghost, possibly the former owner of the "ghost bike"?

BTW: Mega++ on identifying this, I also miss that subtle stuff.

If he's a ghost, why does he appear to both Joe and Yehuda? I don't see anything that marks Fred as anything but an elderly man who hangs out at a bike shop.

+1. 4/24/08 is awesome.

I really want to go post this in the roadie forum now. Probably not wise.

Rick, you are one funny dude.

Thanks!

Some news:

I just received the proof copy of the first printed album of Yehuda Moon comic strips. The book will be around 64 pages and in full color. It'll contain strips from January through June, 2008 as well as a few pages of extras (like the first sketches of Joe and Yehuda, etc.). I plan on doing a book every six months.

It's print-on-demand, which means copies are created as ordered. The proof copy is very good - the colors pop on the glossy paper and the cover is thick but not too thick. I'll post pics shortly.

The book will be available in about six to eight weeks.

I get the feeling he is connected to the ghost bike, as perhaps the father of the rider that the bike is a memorial to.

I'm excited about the book(s)! My dad cycle commuted for a long time and used to do some touring. I'm actually hoping to get him out riding with me when my parents visit this summer. I have a feeling the Kickstand humour will be just the thing to get him intrigued with bikes again

I need to mention this site to the guys at my LBS. I'm sure they'd get a laugh or two out of it. Keep up the great work, Rick.

I wouldnt be suprised if Rick eventually gets a mass publishing deal on this book. I think Yahuda is spreading like wildfire because Rick has created a comic that cyclists will be able to identify with. There is no other comic like this one at the moment. In comic strips there have been bicycling characters like Frazz and Calvins dad, but I have never seen a whole comic based around it. I love Yahuda's attitude. He's not preachy but he makes his points clear. Way to go Rick! Maybe I will get a copy for Shaker Library!
