Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Two more days of polar vortex and then the rest of the ten-day is in the 80Fs.

It's all busy suburbs and poorly laid out trail systems. I don't really enjoy the urban cycling experience. I just kind of ended up running more and more.

The first new car I ever bought was a 1986 Acura Integra RS. 5 speed manual transmission. Looked exactly like this.

Must just be my crappy luck whenever I fly out of here instead of Logan. I swear every flight I’ve ever been on landing here is always super bumpy compared to other places.

Were you here for longer than a quick stop?

I had a four hour sit, so we went to the hotel. I fly back to philly now, then come back to albany around 730pm tonight and leave tomorrow.

I have no idea how y'all keep it so low - I'm happy when Garmin reports an overnight RHR of ~55. During the day it hardly dips under 60.

Don't worry about your RHR compared to others. It's like comparing your HRmax, it's very individual and unlikely to be a true reflection of your fitness.

That said, if you notice YOUR usual RHR is increased, that's a sign of overtraining or other issues. So compare to yourself, not others.

I drove a 95 integra for years. Absolutely loved that car. Could go 400 miles on a tank of gas, and never had any issues with it. Only sold it when my daughter was born.

I had a ‘98 Civic DX 5-speed as my second car, and sold it when it got broken into while I was working on a Black Friday one year. Shouldn’t have sold it; it was an outstanding car despite the poverty spec but I was young and swayed by a GTi. I am often as dumb as a barrel of rocks. The Civic had manual steering, was ninble and fun to drive, and the only thing that ever broke was the A/C and driver’s side window stuck. But it was more reliable at ten years old than the GTi was at one, and it got 40mpg just about no matter what I did to it.

Before I bought the GTi I test drove an ‘07 Si and it was a sad sad thing.

Also not sure of the pump arrangement - I would assume one pump running both upper and lower jets, but the pressure on the lower seems fine and steady, whereas the pressure on the upper isn't as high and it's pulsing rather than steady.
You likely did this already, but check the screens and the intake to the pump. Surging is common when there is an intake blockage.

Audi is blowing out eTrons right now depending on where you look. Buddy of mine just bought one for his wife for their 15th anniversary. MSRP was 85, he got it for 62 before tax credit (another 10k) delivered to his house on a flat bed from Cape Cod. Ultimatey that car will cost him less than a top level Honda Pilot when you factor in gas savings.

Interesting, thanks. I did check the screen and filter and I was surprised by how clean they were. I also pulled out the flat tube that feeds the upper assembly, as well. No discernible blockage, but when I put it all back together, it wasn't surging any more and the pressure was better. I don't know if it's where it's supposed to be or not, but it is better. The upper still isn't spinning worth a damn, though. The blades don't seem to be well balanced, either - it definitely cants towards one side and I'm wondering if this is enough to make it bind and not spin; there's obviously no bearing of any kind, it's just plastic on plastic and there is some visible wear. If I can't think of anything better to do, I might just order a new upper assembly and see how it goes.
