Well looks like possibly the pump peg was added at some point , @genejockey . If I recall correctly the 85' IM first appeared with fender mounts or was that the Turbo ? No wait , Comp TA , ahem . A 86' Miami Vice with no pump peg ? That's crazy .

I don't know about performance, but I gotta say, the fork on my '85 is SO MUCH prettier than a Unicrown!

Asian market bike. If you look at the TT decal it reads Dave Scott Expert. I guess there was no IM marketing rights there at the time. I bought it from the Norfolk VA CL. Must have been a sailor in the past as an owner. The Hirako decal is from the shop it was originally purchased at in Japan. Hirako Cycles. There is another shop decal on the bottom of the ST with their address/phone #. They are still in business. Someday, (maybe soon) I'm going to contact them and see what happens. Maybe I'll get a water bottle to show off.

I have another bike that the previous owner purchased in another country. A 1972 Condor that was purchased from the original shop in England. Condor Cycles is still in business as well.

My 85 also had a pump peg, and I think it was an early one:

Doc, I was looking for posts of your most perfect 85. Is there a Testors/Pactra/Etc. enamel for touch up of that red? Maybe I can pick some up within the 13 days I must wait before I can start work on mine.

My 84 Turbo didn't have a pump peg or eyelets being a proper race bike.

Missing this 1984 Turbo

Painted "Titanium", just like the head tube. Plus I've seen pump pegs on other '85s.

I didn't take any pictures of my future son in law and myself riding the iMs today in the rain. He on an 87 MV with full 7700 and I on an 89 Expert with 10 speed 105. That 89 rides so nice. 30 miles and 2500 feet.

1985 Ironman

Pretty much original—replaced chain, freewheel, rim tape, tubes, tires, brake lever hoods (Dia-Compe 202/204), bar tape and plugs. I think my other bikes will be jealous. Sachs FW with a PC850 and new shift cables are FrictionPerfection. Brakes are acceptable with original cables, housing and cleaned up pads.

Big ring for the picture looks dumb on the big cog.

prices have come down for the holiday. For years, I played a game of filling my 15 gallon tank with regular and hitting $60.00. This year I had to change the rules to make it more challenging.

Neither the 83 or 84 of mine have a pump peg. The dual set of water bottle bosses started in 84.
