Rudge, "The hand", and a lucky one at that.

As noted in the previous post, it is a Rudge Whitworth based on the distinctive "hand" logo of the chainwheel. The photo is reportedly from 1940 and the subject (bicycle) is in great condition, so it's probably not very old. Based on an extant 1939 catalogue, the combination of a male frame, single speed drivetrain and side-pull brakes would suggest a No. 67 Sports Model.

Thanks, never heard of these and couldn't make out the text so google can only go so far. Now googling them and they look like cool bikes. Found a 60s one in Brooklyn with the hand logo thing. Glad to see they're still out there.

That's a 1983 50th Anniversary crankset which is based upon the second-generation Record crankarm; it's 144BCD.

You must be thinking Corsa Record - still a couple years down the road from this photo...

Be aware that they were bought out by Raleigh circa 1943, so the vast majority that surface are actually rebanded Raleighs with a few Rudge pattern components on them.

Arguably, the most famous exotic dancer of all time, Gypsy Rose Lee, circa late 1940s, at which time she would have been in her late thirties. Sorry, I couldn't find any bicycle related photos of her in her working attire.
