Sometimes we say (type) things we don't really mean. i'm willing to believe that was one of those times.

… because the way social norms and standards get established is by thoughtful and compassionate people calling people out when they do or say **** that’s unacceptable. you know, like publicly wishing that a 79 year old man who had a little fall on his bike due to some toe clip action would fall into traffic next time.

Some people deserve a lot more than they get. That one deserves A LOT more. I don't take delight in other people's misfortunes, but when someone hurts others with no regard, I don't mind if they get what they deserve. He still has a lot of miles on his tab.

Nope. Not this time. Very few people deserve what they get more than that particular person.

Have to agree about the formation of social norms and modeling good behavior. Compassion is under rated and under valued. However….. watching some one wreck and bounce back up and continue on as if nothing happened might be worth an ironic laugh. Now if the individual truly was injured, laughter would be totally unacceptable and instead malicious. Claro?

that's too bad, sorry you feel that way. I don't care for him either but I find it hard to wish ill will toward anyone.

you’ll note that my example was not the OP’s OP in this thread, but a not-unrelated comment in another.

Thanks. I used "their" because in this day and age, the rules are changing. and when you (figuratively) ride into a new "town", there isn't a sign posted as to which applies, old or new.

And also risk for a fracture of the radial head at the radius-humerus joint surface. BTDT, not on a bike, but people I know have the same injury from bike falls.

I think certain people are deserving of it. That guy has literally made a career leaching off people, contributing absolutely zero value to society. He's a cancer.

I don't care either way for Puty-Poo. The only thing I will say about Putin is that I have no doubt he wants what he thinks is best for Russia. I cannot say the same for the current regime.

I can laugh ironically in some situations, not because they are classically funny, but because laughing is a better emotion than others I might express. What were the last lyrics to KISS's "Detroit Rock City?" I think they went something like "I have to laugh because I know I am going to die, why?" Humor can be dark, and though certainly not as positive as sympathy, it is a better emotion than rancor.
