What's going on with Velobase? Security threat?
Just went to visit the site today (04/06/2022),but could not without taking a big risk according to my browser's warning:
Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to velobase.com. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.
Anybody else seeing that warning?
Any news about Velobase getting hacked or...worse...?

Ah! So there's a thread devoted to Velobase issues, I didn't know.
Well hope Jon gets this sorted and there's no lasting damage, I really rely on his site and hate to see it "compromised" in any way...

Clicking the Advanced button on the Firefox warning:
I think that isn't a problem if you don't store critical data there, or buy things within the site. I've clicked "accept the risk and continue" on a few sites were I just wanted to read the blog / view the web page, etc.
Velobase is a set of bike component data to view? Yeah, accept!
But then, in the site, I just see 404 Not Found on the main velobase.com page.
velobase.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT
There's a chance of someone faking/impersonating the site, I suppose. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

It's a database of bicycle related parts (with pictures), very very useful.
Eg. if you want to find when Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo hubs came out and what the part number is for the small flange version (1251).

I think we should raise funds for Jon to get a solid service supplier. I know he thought it was sorted out last year but it's obviously still vulnerable to problems and he's invested so much work into the site. I'll leave up to him to speak up.
I would like to offer up parts to members and donate the proceeds to Velobase. Money is short for me but inventory is long.

I agree with the sentiments expressed above. I think we should find ways to support this valuable resource which we take for granted all too often.
I would be willing to donate. The marketplace idea intrigues me. Many of us are parts rich and will hopefully donate a few of those parts to a very worthy cause.
