The Vintage Trek site has a wealth of information, if you don't know about it already. The link below shows the 500 and has a list of components on the specs page. It's a nice riding, sport bike, by the way. Enjoy.

Find the serial number on the bottom bracket shell and look it up on the vintage Trek website. That will tell you when it was made, what model it is and the size.
If you post some close ups of the rim and the label someone will recognize them.

If it's good shape and fits, I don't know why nobody would buy it. At $100CAD it seems like a no brainer.

Would need some closer photos of the wheels to tell what they are. Matrix, as suggested above, is a good guess, though. You trying to decide to buy this, or is it already yours?

how did u know it was 100 lol? I ended up not buying it because the front wheel had a weird fat black hub, the rims are mismatched rigida front and matrix rear, the brooks saddle is not looking great either, I asked the owner for pictures so many times, he never bothered to respond, but agreed to let me come check it out, I actually noticed the pictures he posted is blurring the weird front hub, which seems like he "might be" trying to hide something about the bike, perhaps a no brainer if u don't already own three other bikes, two of them have been in a process of restoration for so long that you're considering to buy a 4th bike, hoping it'll be in a better condition!

I think it was just a later model hub, you know, it's kind of thicker in the middle but nowhere near enough to be a dynamo hub. If it had been a working dyno hub then it would really have been worth 100cad with a little reconditioning of the saddle.
