Campy 8 Speed Hub ID
Can anyone tell what type of 8 speed Campy hub this is? And, generally, did they make a full range of 8 speed hubs (i.e. Record, Chorus, etc.) or? Sorry for the poor pic, but it's the only one I have.
Thanks for any info!

Campy made 8 speed hubs in Record, Chorus, Athena and Veloce. I'd need to see the left side dust cap to determine whether your hub is Athena or Veloce. The quick release lever is different between the various models, as well.
Campy hubs from 1994-1996 were 8 speed. 9 speed was introduced in 1997, so Record and Chorus hubs of that year and later were 9 speed (until 10 was introduced).
Here's the Campy spare parts catalog link for older stuff (1994 & later); you can download whatever you like: https://www.campagnolo.com/US/en/Support/download?td=3
Older vintage Campy brochures and spare parts catalogs (scans) are available for download for the modest price of $19.95, here: https://campybike.com

The above reply is correct -- I'd refer to Branford Bike's info about the 8/9 speed crossover.
Also the easiest way to distinguish the Record and Chorus 8 speed hubs from the lesser varieties is the presence or absence of a clip for the oil port.
That said, I have an Athena 8 speed hub that is every bit as smooth as the nicer ones, albeit a little less pretty.

My Veloce hub has 'Veloce' written in the middle of the hub, so CAMPAGNOLO - VELOCE - MADE IN ITALY
So check if yours says Veloce, otherwise it's most likely Athena, given the lack of oil port clips.
8 Speed was introduced in 1990, most likely for the 1991 model year: https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/site...ue_scan_6.html

But what about the cheaper groupsets?.
According to the 1998 catalog, both Avanti and Mirage were still 8 speeds, and they apparently had their own hubs. The Mirage was FH20MI, and the Avanti was FH20AV. Seems to me that the 2 letters after 20 actually refers to the groupsets. I currently have 8 speed Avanti on one of my bikes, or should I say, the parts I can identify are Avanti, so I ASSUME that the hubs are Avanti too, although I havenīt identified them.
I also believe that the Xenon group at some time existed as an 8 speed group, but I could be wrong on this.
So Iīd say that the answer to the opīs question "Did Campy make a full range of 8 speed hubs" is yes they did.
Lots of Campy catalogs from 1953 to 2008 here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2...ues/?g2_page=1 for free.
