Problem with Giordana Shorts?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Problem with Giordana Shorts?

Ive seen a couple reviews that say there's a big problem with Giordana bibs and shorts. They say that less than a month after buying them, the chamois detaches away from the shorts! Has anyone had this problem? I was going to buy a pair.

I finally found these in my lbs, which I liked.

I haven't had yet that happen to my Giordana Forma Reds but my Castelli bibs and its chamois did separate pretty quickly. Do you have a link to the reviews?

With the exception of the first two, all of the reviews at that link are over five years old. The second review gives no indication as to mileage, and most of his complaints are because Giordana wouldn't replace stock a year in.

The first one is just weird.

I've had really good luck with my FormaRed pair, no noticeable wear so far. I've only got a couple thousand miles on them, though.

I have a couple pair of the Laser bibs from Giordana. After two seasons, they look virtually new despite crashing this summer. I wish my skin looked as good as the bibs did after sliding on the asphalt.

Check to see if pad is glued vs. sewn. If glued, either do not put in the dryer, or keep the temp on "delcate/ fine". For everything, hang-drying is recommended, but glue and heat are most incompatible, since the glue is a hot liquid when applied.

I also have a pair of Silverlines that are 3 years old. I'm roughly estimating that I have 4,000 miles on them (I rotate). There has been no chamois separation.

Never heard this. I've got two pairs of Giordana (dunno the model, they're a team kit) bibs that have about 1500 miles each, and they're just fine.

I have the Silverlines, and they are fine. I also have some Performance Ultra shorts, and they are of higher quality. The material is nicer, they don't sag in the rear the way the Silverlines do. The cut is also better on the Ultra's. Longer legs and a bit higher on the waist. But Silverlines have a cooler logo...

I've owned a pair of their Forma bibs for > 2 years and lower-end team kit bibs even longer than that, and have had no problems with chamois delamination. The Formas survived a downhill crash last year with no sign of damage, either. (unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for my hip, elbow, shoulder, and helmet)

I'm wondering if the people who have had problems are using a fabric softener in the rinse cycle &/or putting them in the dryer. I use plain detergent, no softener, no dryer.

My team bibs have held up pretty well. A couple pairs had their chamois come loose when they were ~2 years old. One pair I tossed, the other I took to a tailor and had it sewn back in for $6.

Have three pairs of Giordana Tenaxes, no problems with the chamois, but the fabric is pretty thin and gets stretched out of shape easily.

3 pairs of Giordana Lazers with 10k + miles between them and no problems so far. My club also uses Giordana for club kit and I haven't heard any complaints so far (unlike the Sportful kit we had in 2008).

I had a pair of the silverline roubaix's and the chamois seperated at the seem. It happened at about the 8 or 9 month mark, I sent them back to giordana with the receipt and they replaced them with a new pair!

I have 4 pair of the laser bib shorts that I rotate and after 2 years of heavy use still look brand new. I won't use any other shorts

I wear giordana laser shorts exclusively. Never any problems.
My 1st two pair are over 4 years old now. They have gotten a little baggie .. just not as tight, form fitting as they used to be. No chamois seperation. They have been machine washed (gentle) and dried (no heat) in excess of 250 times now and no issues.
