Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specific question: good bike rental near Gordes, France?

I will be traveling in early June and staying in Gordes, France. My daughter and I are hoping to do rides that include Ventoux and the Gorges de la Nesque. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place to rent good quality (non-E) road bikes? Hopefully a place that has someone who speaks English (I'm in the US)-- all the bike stores in the area have websites all in French with no option to translate to English, so I imagine I might need to call directly, since Google Translate isn't perfect. Thanks in advance!

Gordes is gorgeous, but I don't recall whether there's a bike shop in the town itself. Years ago I brought my own bike, but needed a new tube and was able to find other shops in the area. Many of the shops will also rent road bikes but you'd have to call ahead to find out what sizes and availability. Many shops will have someone who knows English, but it can also be helpful to email them ahead of time.

There is no shortage of premium rental places in that area. Many will even deliver bikes to your hotel. Malaucene also has a few rental shops. The quality and service is excellent.

Bike rental in gordes , you will get a Trek carbon bike with 105 or ultregra with disc brakes but nothing special or exceptional like a Litespeed or a Merlin or some steel high end framed bike.

The advantage to that is that you can go to your local Trek dealer and have yourself measured for the correct frame size ahead of time
