I’m more concerned with getting low than high end. I’m okay with the 48/35 if I can get it paired with a 10-36. That’s all the top end I need and am used to, but with the extra little bit of low I would like. Wish you could customize these offerings without going full custom build.

You are cracking me up with the hater stuff. They're called opinions, and especially when it comes to aesthetics, they will always vary.

Yup, one big battery, that I don't have to see or mess with, that has plenty of juice for months of riding (well, 4-6 weeks with my volume, but months for most people lol). And it will automatically save power for the RD if I happen to let it run too low, and I don't have to move a battery, it does it automatically. That being said, anyone who can't handle keeping their electronic groupset charged, regardless of the brand, should probably stick to mechanical.

Well, for what it's worth, after 100+ posts I think I've decided to give SRAM a go if I can find a bike I like the look of (after of course fit, and price). I think I understand the pros and cons. I liked what I saw close up, and the external batteries don't bother me. I have a friend who had eTap, left it, and now wants to come back - had good things to say (I never knew he had an eTap bike before). If Shimano were already 12 speed that might be a different story, but since I'm ready to buy now (pending finding the right bike), I don't want to repeat my last feat of buying 10 speed barely weeks before the 11 speed groups hit the market. I used to be in the camp of x is plenty (9, 10, whatever), but after years of riding a 10 speed with a wide range cassette, I'm ready to ride something without such noticeable gaps. I'm hoping 12 will give me all the range I want, but without losing my cadence sweet spots and being forced too often to over or under spin. Thanks to all who have contributed - feel free to carry the conversation on as you see fit :-)

You did a great job hiding those huge batteries, they don't stand out nearly as much against an all black bike with black sidewalls. People going SRAM wireless should follow your lead.

I've had SRAM AXS for two weeks now. I don't know if the AXS batteries are smaller than etap 11, but the height is about the size of a quarter and two quarters is far longer than the battery. They each weigh about 25 grams. When I switched from Campy chorus mechanical, there was no change in weight. Even with $500 off each group, it's still priced much higher than chorus 12, but that's the price you pay to get wireless. My chorus 48/32 cranks are working great, with no chain drops yet and the 10-36 cassette works with the standard RD. FWIW, Chorus 12 cranks can be had for less than force and will produce more range.

So far, I'm not impressed with the AXS Android app. Mine stops working over and over.

One thing Ive noticed is SRAM seem more expensive from a spare parts perspective. A new rear DR if you smash it, a new cassette etc. To me the wireless argument for Sram is silly. Cables are a one time deal if you install yourself or a no time deal if you get it on the bike from the store and you only need one power source, rather than four. - and the batteries make the SRAM DRs really bulky. That said Shimano could do a little clean up. There is a few too many little boxes and junctions that could do with a some integration.

Personal opinion, I like the way the FD RD look. And the fact there's NO WIRE to set up, to see, to maintain or to what ever.

This is basically spelling the word out as HATTER since @ = AT.
Typing 'H@TER' makes no sense.

Its actually worse than typing 'H8TER' because H@TER is not only stupid to type, but its not even correct use of slang.

Or in my case, to get shifters on the TT brake levers. But whatever helps you sleep at night. I have (mechanical, obviously) 105 on my R2 and it’s so good that the only complaint is it’s so reliable I can’t justify anything fancier.

My son has Rival on his P2 and it's been flawless for the past 8 years and has been a winning drivetrain.
