Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No apologies ! I love rural farm roads. We've got some nice ones up here too.

This one is a shot of both Canada and the US.

I was cycling down 0 Avenue in BC (the road in the foreground of the photo), and took a picture of Border Avenue (I think) in Washington. The bit of grass between the two roads is the border.

And a couple local shots from a January 2006 century ride.

I'm riding out from Anchorage to Shelbyville tomorrow, by way of Duncan Memorial and Todds Point. About 60 miles RT for me. It's gonna be in the mid 70's and sunny - I'm taking the day as a vacation day to ride

Awesome photos! I rarely take pics while riding. But I did manage to snap some shots on a quick loop outside of Bodega Bay, CA.

HWY 1 just north of Bodega Bay

Base of Coleman Valley Road (a TOC climb from a couple years back)

One of the more pitchy sections...

Someone likes Cozza...

At the top....

Into the woods...

Heading back to the campsite....

Funny, I've only ridden that once, but in the driving rain at WCC this year. The only part of the scenery I can recognize is the writing on the road. Clearly I need to do this again in better weather, nice pics.
