Coaster Brake Arm Mount
I've been asked by a buddy to braze on a mount for a coaster brake for her klunker. I think is will be fairly straight forward. I'll make one out of 1" stock that I have and brass braze it on the chain stay. Anyone done this? Would like to see how you did it.

I've done drum arm mounts but with vertical dropouts. I would copy the usual slotted bracket mounted under the stay. Center the bracket WRT the chain tensioned axle position. Make sure there's clearance for the reaction arm to not contact the stay and located so the arm doesn't have to be bent to contact the bracket. Andy

Had one moved from the top of the stay to the bottom. Didn't like the quality of work but hey, its a low end tandem.

I did much the same to my Burley Duet (also the first generation version). I used a fairly thick plate for the tab seeing how the forces would be trying to open up the "C". I did a bunch of other braze on changes to that bike. I hated the internal routing so ran all the cables outside, removing and plugging the OEM down tube ports. I had Burley repaint the frame and ultimately sold the bike to a blind guy who was going to tour the west coast with his sighted sister as the captain. Andy

Thanks for the photos. I ended up making a bracket out of 1/8th steel but closed on both sides. Still need to braze it on. I'll post a photo when done.

Yea, for a coaster brake wheel removal needs a wrench anyway. No need for a slide in/out "C" tab.
