Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not FTP or TSS or even TSOP but I did ride and cut one of my lawns.

Cutting grass is almost as stupid as hitting your head against the wall.

Youtube is really kickin' out the jams for me after Why Don't We Do It In the Road. Couple hot James Gang tracks, then this sweet Boz Skaggs cut that totally reminds me of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" at times

That's a little lower than basecamp elevation for me the last couple days.

Now I'm back in the lowlands, got a nice 4.55 mile hike in today!

Same. except my bike was a steel Giant Allegre in 1994 or 1995. I had to add STI brifters around that time. Bought it 1991 and it had down tube shifting. Sporty. It was red.

I'm looking for about another inch down and getting my arms together. I can likely handle the further drop, but that arm thing is painful.
So leave the FTP where it is and get weak? Sounds good!

I have been playing around with position and I think I can do it, at least part of the time.

It's just the perception, yet the suffer score goes sky high. Ultimately, speed is the goal, yes?

YES! But the FTP estimate should still probably go up by a few.

However, you didn't stop because your bicycle was unsuitable for higher altitudes, right?

To clarify, the FTP goes up, but when you fold your body up, it will go down for that hour, or hopefully, much less than that hour. Start now for next year. Word on the street is I'll be spending October on the TT bike, as well as February. At least that month only has 28 days.

And would not detonate at over 10,000 feet, which is a plus.

Nice.

5x5' Vo2 Max today at 6,000 feet. As you can see, I'm procrastinating by giving dodgy advice.

Now that second thunderstorm is off the radar. Could have ridden.

Of course, if I had gone out, I would have been squalled on.

You've been doing a lot lately, so of course your true FTP has gone up but without a test, it manifests as an ability to register more TSS. But it's not real, because your real FTP is higher than set.

I'll test once it's cold again. Or at least cool.
I thought that Fitness was just an average training load? If that's the case, having a too-low FTP would make it easier to have a high Fitness, but I don't see how having a 100+ Fitness would necessarily be indicative of too low of an FTP. Two hour rides at 60-70% every day would handily get that done, no?

My FTP just sucks, relative; that's always been the case. I can't imagine that I could complete any FTP test of a common duration and have it indicate more than a 7-8% increase, and that really doesn't change the skew of my curve very much. I just burn bright and snuff out fast.
