I saw a 29 inch fat bike
I saw a fat bike with 29 x 4.0 inch wheels. I am told it was made in Taiwan. Expect these to become common in the next couple of years.

Fat bikes peaked in 2015 and their sales have declined ever since. I don't ever expect them to become "common," regardless of tire size.

I see a chicken and egg problem - manufacturers will be reluctant to make a 29" fat bike until 29" fat bike tires are common enough, and tire manufacturers will be reluctant to make 29" tires until 29" fat bikes become more popular.
A big company (e.g. Quality Bicycle Products) needs to jump start it.

Why don't you ask the mods to move this to the Fat Bike section? That way you can get input from folks who are interested in fat bikes. On the other hand, you'll get yourself more attention if you leave it here. Just depends on what you want from your thread.

This one was X-treme. I don't know all of them.
I believe they are manufacturers based in Taiwan.
America has a delay on deliveries. But I would expect 29 inch fate bikes in America next year.

I can't say if the larger tires will be widely adopted.

A couple of Google hits on 29x4.0 tires from China, but listing marks 26x4.0 & 29x4.0. So, who knows what they have.
29x3 is relatively easy to find.

As for fat bikes, as far as I know, they have the same rim diameter as regular 26 inch tires (559mm), but the outside tire diameter of the 4 inch tire comes to roughly the same as regular 29 inch tire.

Someone correct if I'm wrong, but I've never come across 29 inch bicycle wheels. 29 inches refers to the approximate tire outside diameter, but 29er tires use the same 622mm diameter rims as 28 inch/700C tires do (width may differ though).
As for fat bikes, as far as I know, they have the same rim diameter as regular 26 inch tires (559mm), but the outside tire diameter of the 4 inch tire comes to roughly the same as regular 29 inch tire.

Part of the reason we have a mess with 26" (and some other tire sizes) is the 26" refers to the outer size of the tire.
So far 29" has been defined as using a 622mm bsd rim.
And a 26" Fat Bike is defined as using a 559mm bsd rim.
Hopefully someone doesn't come along and redefine the sizes... well, just because.

If they used the same standard as they use for cars, trucks and motor bikes, the 26 inch would be called 22 inch, and the 29 inch would be called 24.5 inch. But this would confuse people.
