The other day, I found the YouTube channel of James Hoffmann, a former World Barista Champion - I'm really liking his insights, presentation and personality (he's got a dry sense of humor humour, but it's there). I think that it was a machine review that I'd first stumbled across, maybe the Aldi espresso machine debacle, but he's got some good informational videos, too. When I first got in to espresso, there wasn't nearly as much science in the brewing, not visible at the enthusiast level, at least, but now this man's got me wanting to buy a little scale for measuring ground dosing and shot volume, etc.
Here's a video on dose, the first of four deep dives on tweaking espresso pulls (the fourth isn't out, yet).

A little coffee, a couple of hours of work, then fake miles with a movie and some upper body and core.

That seems not normal to me. But, I don't buy houses very often.

So closed 4 hours later than proposed. We had to write a check to cover last minute cost got the keys and left. We already had the van loaded up full with boxes and painting supplies, so we went straight to the house. As I am pulling the first box out of the car we get a phone call from the office. They did the math wrong we have to bring a check immediately for more money.
I think I invented new words, I don’t think I have ever been so angry in my life. Btw the office is 45 mins away from where our new house is, and it was rush hour at this point. Needless to say I got zero painting done today.
With the celebration all done, all I can say is, if I stuck to rule number 2, everything would have been fine.

Sounds like a very bad closing company. We have bought four houses and sold three and never had a delay or glitch that I remember. In fact, I got the impression the offices we used were so efficient, careful, and customer-oriented, that they would have eaten the charge if they had left something out.

Glad it's finally over!

My wife and I look really young, and we have felt that over the years we get jerked around because of that. Don’t really have any proof, but it just seems like stuff people pull on us they wouldn’t pull on someone who appeared older. Could be wrong.

This sounds like incompetence or sloppiness more than anything. FWIW, we were 30 when we bought our first house and obviously inexperienced.

Pie report: tasty
Ride report: rode on MUP to the city. Stopped at the art museum for obligatory tourist pic at Rocky statue. Had one flat that was a royal pain to fix and involved bleeding of thumb and booting of sidewall, occasional sprinkles, mostly dry but humid. All in all a fine ride. Lancaster Covered Bridge ride was postponed until tomorrow.

Yup. My Atlas lineage goes back several generations in England (my grandfather came to USA about 100 years ago) but since we are Jewish best guess is they went to England because of Spanish Inquisition and lots of Jews from Morocco if you go back a thousand years. I have no proof but best guess is that’s where at least some of my people/tribe are from.

The first night I was there I was woken up by the prayer call from a nearby mosque. And then there was the toilet. My friend had a good laugh when I asked to use the bathroom and came back up scratching my head. There was a ewe in the backyard that they were fattening up for some upcoming feast. We went shopping at the bazaar. It was right out of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The ferry ride there was amazing. Dolphins came to play on the wake. There was and adult and young one fully breaching.

Good hard ride this morning.
I've never had my legs threaten to cramp like that before.
