Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

same here. One of my best friends started when we were in middle school. The change was so dramatic it was enough to keep me from ever wanting to try it. Not a fan of the smell either.

I'm not even sure you could be a gravel rider.

Or do they do edibles? I don't know anymore! I'm so out of touch with these young moderns, their groovy lingo, and their hippity hoppity music

More weight, less aero. Downforce not needed.

People threw crap on the track which got sucked up, damaging the fan. It got banned pretty quickly.

I had a Cox Chaparral 1/24 scale slot car when I was about 12, I think. There was a place called Tom Thumb raceway and they had 5 tracks. I don't remember how much they charged for track time but I rarely had enough money to stay on very long.

I think I first tried it around 13 or 14, already smoking cigarettes by then. I discovered alcohol a few years later, which was a bad thing.

Quit cigarettes when I was 33. Smoking them is the one thing I wish I had never done. They don't add anything to your life, don't get you high, don't give you lots of stories to tell, just a total negative.

The Times Grand Prix was a thing to behold. Hearing and feeling those big block things was as close to a Top Fuel feeling there was.

Never did that. I did go to Long Beach once the day before the GP and saw some practice and watched an Indy Lights race, That was amazing. They also had a celebrity race, I think Toyota Celicas, and Greg LeMond was in it as was Queen Latifa.

I used to go to Ascot Park, a 1/2 mile dirt oval, and watch the sprint cars. We would sometimes stand in turn 1 and get pelted by balls of sticky mud.

I took way too many drugs, way too young. That stopped when I got serious about other things and people.

Ascot was cool. They had all types of racing, from demo and figure 8, to sprint and champ car, and all in between. JC Agajanian owned, which says everything.

Times GP was at Riverside, and if you sat in the bleachers in the esses, you could see nearly the whole track. That was an awesome track.

There does not seem to be a common definition of "drugs" here.

A friend raced flat track motorcycles at Ascot when I was about 18. Never went to Riverside.

I went to Supercross several times but the USGP at Carlsbad was my favorite motorcycle race.
