Slept in again on this rest week, now my 2 hr ride before work will be 60-90min, depending.
I'm going camping this weekend and will not log any bike time over S/Su, but will do a couple good hikes. I will log less total time on the bike this week than my Sunday ride last week. I know it's a rest week for me but it just feels... weird. I'm slightly guilty already.
Next week will be the usual, but attenuated by 0.66 or 0.75, as we have training camp over F/S/Su.

Skipped my commute since it was 31 out. Not sure if thats a valid reason, since it typically doesn't get that cold. Is going down from ice on the road a concern at those temps?

Yes, if there has been recent precipitation or runoff. You can pretty much always see the shiny spots before you come up on them though. Be cautious descending or coming up to corners. If you do hit ice DO NOT hit the brakes, your wheels will lock up and you will fall over; try to go in a straight line and more often than not you will stay upright.

I suppose, but it's just another road hazard, like a branch in the road or whatever. Keep an eye out and you will be fine. I rode over a lot of ice the other day. It's better to ride around it if you can, but if you can't avoid it, don't panic, just keep rolling straight over it and you'll be fine.
Must.. not.. make fun of Californians...

i tend to crash on ice about once a year. it sucks, a lot. one of the reasons I opt to ride inside these days when the roads are messy.

If pro bike handler cyclocross master mikey868 crashes on the ice 1 time a year, that's probably 1 time a day for me!

Yesterday: jumps. Today: 2x20s.
It's weird how the exact same workout can be easy sometimes and hard sometimes. Yesterday and today were easy.

Z1 days sometimes just turn into just dance party days. very likely to go over zone. but the trade off is finding all kinds of pre-race tracks.

The weather radar looked clear, the roads were dry so I headed out this am. About 10 minutes into my ride, the rain found me Cold and wet, did 90 minutes. This week was a wash out but great timing for a rest, race season starts in a week or so but I probably won't race until the end of January.
It looks to be cold but dry this weekend. Looking forward to riding!

The rain finally let up this morning so I finally got in a ride. 3.5 hours and 5000 feet on the way to work. I dont think it was below freezing, but there were still bits of ice up in the hills.

Thursday, rode 2.5 more hours on spin bike, and today/Friday, 2 hours on spin bike in the morning, and 2 hours up & down hiking in Waimea Canyon.
@cmh - I drove in/out the entire way up Waimea Canyon road to the trail at 3500 feet. Oh my goodness, that would have been an amazing ride for the bike!!!! On the way up, it just kept going up, and up, and up, and....

Easy hour last night on zwift. Been working a lot this last week and usually I would skip riding...but I don't want to let that be the reason I don't ride. So I at least did something.

Wisdom teeth came out thursday, and haven't ridden since Wednesday night (60min at 60-95% FTP). Seeing as how I am really not in a lot of pain, I going to try for a fixed gear spin on the rollers. Not sure how the antibiotics will affect me, but we'll find out

Sparsely attended team cross ride. We heard the trails were clear but they really weren't. Lots and lots of ice. Probably 30 minutes of the 2 hour ride was on ice, including some climbing which was interesting. You get used to riding on ice pretty quickly. I thought of @furiousferret.
