Used cycling shorts?

Ok, this seems totally creepy to me. On my local Craigslist, someone is selling used cycling shorts. Isn't that like buying used underwear? Nasty!!!

Oh Yuck!

hehe - Several years ago on ebay someone was selling a lot of bike clothing - and there was a set of bibs - slightly used - and then it mentions a small stain .... the Forum I was in at the time had a ball with that one!

Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww. And I repeat, eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww. My wife actually made a suggestion that I should look at getting used cycling shorts until I told (or tried to tell her) how you wear 'em. She put an immediate halt to the conversation.

I'm always a contrarian ... bike shorts can be tough to gauge until you ride in them. thick pad, thin pad, next to no pad, wide pad, hinged pad, firm pad, soft pad ... I have no problem buying and selling LIGHTLY used shorts. Just remember that laundry is your friend ...

For every funky item under the sun, there's a fetishist who'd just love to get some in "used" condition.

I now have my 'get rich quick' scheme. I just need to stock up on bike shorts and tyvek mailing envelopes.

Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww. And I double repeat, eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww. Doesn't sound like used cycling shorts, when worn the way you wear them (no matter who used them before) are a pleasant subject to be discussed (or worn) among civilized people.

I've bought AND sold used shorts/tights.

My body has touched far worse things than a pair of freshly washed shorts.

Nope, I'm using picture of my giant Sasquatch-lookin' self. There's a market demographic for that.

while I've never bought used shorts, I agree with JeffS. You guys are seriously worrying about touching a piece of fabric that someone else touched, and then was washed?

Have you people ever had sex? Was your reaction "Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww. And I double repeat, eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww." to touching someone else's genitals? You really think sex is cleaner than washed shorts?

Used but washed bike shorts are probably far cleaner than the kitchen at your average American restaurant.

Let me say now that I keep latex gloves in my trunk bag. I have no idea why I'm saying that, I just feel somehow compelled to right now.

I'm going to take a shower as soon as I get home.

I keep a pair of blue nitrile gloves in with my flat repair gear so I don't have to deal with road-grit dirty hands if I have to change a flat.

Touching other peoples genitals is fine....erm, not gross? I don`t know how to make that sound alright....
Personally I think that there is a huge difference between rocking out for a couple of hours and slipping on a pair of bike shorts that has spent their lives with someone`s ***** crack grinding into the material. It`s like the skid mark that would not die...not to mention possible years of strangers sweaty balls, etc.
No amount of washing can make those comfortable to me. It`s too much like going down to Value Village and deciding to buy someone`s second hand tightey whiteys.

Does having sex in bike shorts count?
