Worst timing ever. My sister is celebrating her 40th birthday by having me join her for a multi-day hike in Glacier Nat'l Park the same weekend as Cino... Why couldn't she have been born just like, a week later?

Totally cool with that! I myself am a bike pusher, so I’m glad I’m not the only one!

Or………tell her that you’ve arranged a special birthday celebration for her in Hot Springs with a 50-mile parade of vintage bikes.

My wife has a cousin getting married in Washington in September, so the first thing I did was to check the Cino website to see if I could work it into the trip. I was so disappointed that they changed from the traditional date.

I only have North Dakota and Oregon to complete my list of seeing all 50 states, so we are planning to drive out. We are going to bring the bikes to do some sightseeing along the way.

Dates and timing are a challenging endeavor. I wish we could fit everyone’s schedule. I hope next year your cousin isn’t getting married again!

No worries, the first priority when hosting an event is to pick a date that works for the host. I'm planning to retire soon, so my schedule will be a lot more flexible.

I would strongly encourage you to come down I84 from Idaho, The Columbia river gorge should not be missed, nor should a ride there, my favorite place in all aspects.

Plenty of car free riding and the trail is spectacular in many places.

I would be glad to meetup anywhere along the way as Cino is not in the cards for me either.

Thanks for the offer. I was thinking of going through Portland on the return trip. The recent thread on the Columbia River Gorge looked very tempting.

fun read, while maybe more extreme than Cino, key is that it is less the ride and more the people just like Cino https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoo...-cycling-club/

To quote a famous statesman: “We choose to ride the Cino on bikes older than a decade, and do the other things. Not because they are easy, but because they are hard." – JFK (probably)

If you schedule this, start a thread. BFer's in Portlandia have been known to meet up with some of more "famous" posters!

I will surely start a thread but you or others will have to join us as I likely only qualify as a "famous" poser in this light.

I always thought he said we do these things because they are “hahd” , whatever that means.

I still have hope but most likely a no-go this year as, instead of the usual August, July looks to be family vacation month this year.

to put that in context of Henry Arecese a southie buddy in the coast guard. "it's not hahd, get in the caaaah, go to a baaah, and have a beaah" the hahd part was this involved driving from new london Connecticut, to his favorite southside boston baaah for the beaah and still getting back for 6 am role call wicked fun

Saying, "No," to family vacation is beyond the kind of hahd he was speaking of. There will be another Cino.

Thomas and I are officially on the roster.

He'll be riding his prize from last year's Cino, the Zeus. He's been pretty busy with School and sports, but we'll get the ball rolling again and finish up the build

I'm riding my green bike

If anyone wants to do the vintage mountain bike thing they are welcome to use my recently acquired Performance MTB. Steel frame, no suspension, 26” wheels, 20” frame. I’ve done a Tri-Flow refresh on it and it shifts reasonably well. (The FD only likes the largest and smallest rings. Still futzing with it.)

LMK!
