New TT bike - BMC Time Machine TT02

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How did you build this up so quickly while the Colnago took you no fewer than three years?

By "they" I assume you mean the pro's. The pro's don't ride this one, they ride the TT01. This (TT02) is a $1,500 frameset, the TT01 frameset is around $12,000. The new TM01 is just now coming out, it will probably be around $12,000 for the frameset as well.

I wasn't in a hurry on the Colnago, didn't plan on riding it until after Winter. I plan to race this one on Saturday so didn't see any reason to screw around. Spent about two hours or so building it up.

They are Psimets, built with White Industry hubs and Gigantex 50mm rims.

Thanks. Compact 50x34, it is the crankset off of my Colnago. Can't really afford / justify more than one Quarq right now.

Nice ride! I'm currently envious about the new TM01, but the TT01 still looks sweet too.

Next steps:

1) Wheel cover from Wheelbuilder.com
2) Latex Tubes
3) New tires for lower rolling resistance. The Conti's aren't bad, but some Vittoria Evo Corsa 320tpi's will round that out nicely (https://www.biketechreview.com/tires_...sting_rev9.pdf)

The compact is awesome as long as you like riding with a high cadence in TTs. Unless you are a genetic freak or there is some huge downhill where you need a 55x11 or something.

First upgrade is going to be a tt saddle. This saddle is miserable. On the flats I was no where near running out of gears so for the time being I'm happy with the compact.

Thanks. It's the quarq that is normally on my Colnago.

Thanks. It really didn't cost that much since the wheels and crankset are loaners from my Colnago.

Just finished my second ride of the day on the new bike and I have to say that I now remember why time trial bikes are so much faster than road bikes. I rode as fast as possible to get back to the truck so I could get off of the damn thing. This is going to take some getting used to.

Very nice. It's even worse if you have to pee sometime while on a TT bike. Incredibly uncomfortable.

Thanks. I am only half the man you are so I only need half the gearing. On today's ride at 25 mph I still had about three gears left, I am going to have to get much stronger before I have to worry about a standard crankset.

Now if I had your money, I would probably go ahead and order a 54/39 Quarq for it.

Thanks. After the ride I went to pee and it felt like peeing razors. I will be ordering a new saddle very, very soon!

Check out the Adamo saddles, you can keep the -5cm saddle setback while getting into a more comfy/aero tri position.
