Someone on this subforum may have use for this stuff. Here's what I posted in C&V sales:

You want some leather punches so you can make fender washers for all of us? I think I have a spare set.

Gaskets for your air compressor, Clamp anti scuff skins, Friction layers for rotating things, hinges for tune blocks and all kinds of creative stuff. If I didn't have my stash of leather I'd get this. Andy

I have hole punches. I'm not sure how big my biggest round hole punch is, though. Maybe 1/2"? This leather is on the thick side, for washers, but you could do it. Getting the small hole right in the center of a disc is surprisingly difficult.

@rhm, Any chance you can document some of what you do and give us a peek?
I have always been intrigued by leather-working, especially as relates to bicycling.
And who doesn’t love a Brooks saddle?

Feel free to poke around in my Flickr albums, ignore the family artwork &c, there are a lot of photos of saddles at various stages of repair. There are not many photos of the process-- but these three albums have some photos of how I stretch the leather:

Wow, impressive work. Thank you for sharing those.
Did you start right off working on saddles or was it a progression?
And if so, where/how did you start? I took a couple bag making classes years ago but it seems my talents do not extend to that area lol.

Could you drill an oversized disc with a hole saw bit for wood first to get the center hole? Then the leather punch at uniform distance from the ragged drill edge? (Maybe make a hole saw with a small center bit so that hole can be punched larger ans clean?

rhm. I couldn't find your thread on the C & V forum. (But I did see one on the entrance fee for C & V membership. Didn' read it but the answer is "your life". Once in C & V, there is nothing else. So those sucked in C & Vers post and post and post. Days old threads go many pages deep!)

Leather for vises. (No, not for vices.) Could you spare a few scraps (say enough for 4 jaws (5 1/5" now but that vise is tired and I'll probably get a 6" if I don't have a machinest make me new jaws) PM me if that's possible/easy.

Sad thing is the vise itself is just fine. A Craftsman made by the premier vise company (in, I think, Wisconsin). But 30 years ago. Sears has moved on and the company no longer supports those vises. Only problem with mine - the jaws have been beaten on! The life of a vise jaw. In my shop, kinda like the life of a pro boxer's jaw in the days before mouth guards.

Also, do you or others know of a best/easiest way to apply the leather to the jaws. I'm pretty creative but I don't have to re-invent everything.

Ben

Ben, I'm sure I have some leather for your jaws. I'll look tonight.

There's a link to my C&V Sales thread in the first post above.

To attach leather to the vise, I would use contact cement. It tends to work well on both metal and leather, and it's stretchy enough to survive the changes in pressure. It won't last forever, but you can always reglue it.

rhm, how do you reproduce the logos in the leather with such detail and accuracy?

I draw the designs in CorelDraw, and then have a pair of stamps 3-D printed. You would think the stamps are decorative, and they are, but they also serve as the jaws of the clamp that holds the leather in place while I stretch the **** out of it.

rhm,
Nice to see those fine saddle restorations and re-creations, WOW!
..here I thought I was a hero for re-leathering about 6 "Avocet-Ti" saddles.
I took a liking to that particular, saddle so recovered a bunch of 'em so every one of my bike's would have the same saddle..
I have since moved on, a bit.
