rookie looking for a part

Im looking for a seat post clamp/wedge for a 2008 specialized transition comp bike. Specialized doesn't have it and neither does my local bike shop. I would appreciate any help I could get with this. Thanks!

Are you talking about a part of the saddle clamp on the seat post?

Probably just easier to get a new seat post. I wouldn't expect any pieces parts to be for sale. If you ask everyone at every bike shop and co-op then maybe they'll know something they might have just tossed in a bin.

And that is why I stay away from those proprietary parts.

Sorry, OP, I know this is no help to you.

One option, but not a cheap one. but hey! extra parts.
The price you pay for proprietary parts unsupported by the manufacturer.

A vise, a dremel rotary tool, some files and a small block of aluminum and you can fabricate a new one on your own. Depending on how the original worked, you might need to drill and tap as well. Yes, finding an original part would be great but if not supported by the manufacturer, making such wedge is well within the capabilities of most people. You can make it as crude or as refined as you wish. Good luck!

Hi [Leisesturm],

I checked with our supplier, and those parts are discontinued. I would try Specialized directly, or eBay for a used part. Good luck with your search!Best Regards,
