Anyone else here use "retro" style saddles? Can't find anything better than my Regal

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I might have tried a 100 saddles over the years and must have a weird posterior as I can not believe the very different 3 most comfortable I ride to this day, Regal, Selle Anatomica and of all things an Ergon SR3 but not the Ergon Pro.

Stick with the Regal, the difference in weight between it and a lighter saddle is less than half the water in a bottle. You won’t see any any advantage from decreasing weight if you are decreasing your comfort. I love Regal saddles, but as an older person I have gravitated to the Brooks B17 with the titanium hardware. It’s not heavy, and it’s wonderfully comfortable to me.

I gave the Brooks Pro off of my old FAVORI 'The Treatment', and it is tolerable now, but the Selle SMP TRK is going back on.

Selle SMP TRK saddle.

It works with my butt. YBMV.

Many RAAM winners who rode them. Guess the weight didn’t bother them over all those miles.

Brooks saddles are 2 to 3x heavier than a modern saddle. Plus, you have to have them nose up in order to not slide down. I ride about 8 cycling events a year and I have yet to see a Brooks saddle on any rider.
