Show us your Dave Moulton, any and all 2.0

I'm sure we've done this before but in light of 2 current great posts, lets revisit.

I don't think Dave gets half the attention he deserves, paid his dues in spades including a stint at Masi and the salt mine old world English frame building inferno to get him started.

Here are mine, again.

And one of these is not like the others aside from having the coolest paint scheme of the bunch.

Wonderful New Year’s Day ride on the Fuso! Definitely one of my favorite bikes. We all need more than one and I am looking.

Well, here is #16. Been hanging there since 2010 as I collect the parts. The parts that were on it were claimed to be original by the the original owner from which I bought it (mix of Campy, Suntour, and DA brakes...all correct date codes, BTW). Dave remembers it as all Campy and different fenders. The only picture I have with Dave and the new bike is impossible to tell who is correct, but I have decided to go the Campy route. I just took delivery of aluminum Bluemels mudguards and tail lamp that I think are the last thing I need to complete the re-build, but the wiring is going to take me a while. I am hopeful to have it on the road by next fall.

Pure inspiration right there, fantastic, despite the 4 arm crank that's working on this.

What is up with all the unbuilt Mouton/Fuso frames? Anyways, here is mine :

(Look at the top left corner behind the KHS Aero Comp!)
The top tube has a sticker hat says "Shaw's **CC" . I gather Shaw's was a legendary bike shop here in Santa Clara which sponsored some racers.

Edit: found another pic of it as bought:

Can anyone make out what that Shaw's sticker is supposed to say?

Well mine are all lined up behind the little pink one that is the first one that I bought as a placeholder.

The others followed and I just got the silver and red one that is the one I needed a few months ago so it is in the queue behind too many others now.

It is also on a too long list of ones that should be prioritized but who knows.

1990 fr1

Here's my 1990 Fuso FR1. I bought it as a frameset 17 years ago and, in my quest to have one of each of Campy's first four attempts at indexed shifting, built it up with Croce d'Aune and sewups. I think the Regina 7-speed freewheel is a 13-26, because I don't think I could have climbed the local mountain pass on it if it only had a 24 and I'm too lazy to count teeth. All I can say is that, with the exception of one cog, the first generation Syncro shifters change gears flawlessly, even if the clicks are a bit vague. Pretty good for a system that many people report cannot be made to work at all. The Delta brakes also work quite well, in spite of what people who have probably never ridden them say. The bike rides beautifully and about the only negative thing that I can say about it is "Really, Dave, just what were you thinking with that lame pump peg on such an otherwise beautiful frame?"

Great looking build!

I’m also the owner of an unbuilt 85 Fuso frame I picked up in April 2020. I may build it up with similar components since I also have a spare set of Fulcrum 5’s and a spare set of Ultegra 6700’s laying around.

1985 58cm repainted Fuso bought through Craigslist in 2020. Will either build it up with a red & white, or a red, black and white color scheme.

The seller included a set of stickers

The frame is currently waiting to be built.

I had Rudi Mayr build this saddle for the Fuso.

KLOSHE , which BB did you install on the gray Fuso? I've never built up a restomod and want to instlal my Integra 6700 crankset on the frame. Do you know the weight for the gray Fuso? I'm also planning on putting a heavey 500g+ leather saddle on mine.

Number 182 John Howard 57c Built by Dave Moulton and babied since, from what I was told it’s been hanging in a garage for at least 10 years. The original owner passed and I was very fortunate to offered to buy it. All I’ve done was attempt to return it to its original state. The rear wheel is out of true so that’s why you see this one at the moment.
I rode it around the block, but will spend some time and money getting it perfect before I take it on any longer rides.

I love it.

I was thinking I’d have a few more layers of clear coat and heli tape applied to the paint. It really is in impeccable condition.

Don't have any good photos of this bike, nor have I gathered the parts and done the work to make it properly rideable, suddenly feeling like pangs of guilt.

Don't sweat it, it takes what it takes, motivation, inspiration, time, money, obsession, etc, etc.

That being said, get to it.

I was caretaker of John Howard #281 for about six years. I considered it my best finished frame. Dave's work is stellar. It now resides in southern CA.
