Entitlement.
Gross negligence.
What a dirt bag.

At least the cyclist made it with out injury. That's a rare thing. Camero's are low with low bumpers & smooth transition to roof for aerodynamics. That may very well have saved the cyclists life.

News link not available in my region, but I'm presuming this is a hit and run.

No licence plate conveniently attached to bumper?

FTA:

> INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –A man is hit while riding his bike into work. The driver never stopped, instead that person took off speeding away.

We don't need no steenkin editors. /s

Glad the rider's OK.

Maybe some fingerprints on the paint.

Indiana (my former home state) does not have front plates.

I hope the cyclist gets to keep the front end of the car. I'd mount it like a trophy.

I'm, glad the cyclist wasn't seriously injured. It sounds like the wife is more upset than the cyclist.

I wonder if the part is serialized. It would seem like a good piece to put a number onto.

Fingerprints?

Video Surveillance? It should be easy enough to spot a vehicle missing the whole front bumper cover/grill.

Alert at junkyards, repair shops, etc?

Cross cell phone data and car ownership databases?

I was wondering that as well.
Even w/o the serial, I would expect possession of frontend would narrow down the year pretty well, so the cops could run a registration search for the make/model/color/year(s), and narrow down the pool of local matches to a small number.

Good police work and a word to local repair shops and Chevy dealers should be able to target the offender.

I’ve “played” dodgem with lots of auto flotsum and jetsam, sometimes even in the travel lane. Just wondering out loud if maybe the bumper was not attached to a Camaro at the time of the crash, not accident.

Good point. Although, if the cyclist rides the route daily, he would be aware of some of the junk he dodges (or has thrown aside), so this would limit it to something that happened recently.

Any major previous accident should have been reported.

Paint Transfer? I'm surprised I'm not seeing more damage to the bicycle, although one photo apparently does show a broken rear fender.

That road sure looks rough.

Guy is lucky to be in one piece for sure. As for the written part of the linked report, I hope the reporter won the 5th grade English writing competition.

I'm guessing there's a VIN number somewhere on that bumper. Our cars have number stickers on many of the components.

Why? A lot of states do not have a front license plate. Florida is one such state.

AFAIK cars have the VIN printed on some body parts, to discourage chop-shops. Maybe the police will luck out with this one.

@wgscott---that is not writing, it is a quote from the wife of the cyclist. Not sure what you are not getting ... but I am very sure that you are smart enough to "get" anything you want to get ... so, sorry, I cannot take your comment seriously. Be well and do good.

Apparently my addition to this thread got lost in the electronic universe. i said something like, "That is not writing, that is a quote from the victim's wife."

The bad writing would be the incomplete sentences, the awkward sentences ... but as I also said ... You read the article. You are an intelligent person. You can recognize bad writing. So I am not sure what you are not getting ... or choosing not to "get," because you are well able to "get" whatever you want ... you are smart enough to understand about anything said on this forum or in most news reports written in English ... so I cannot take you post seriously.

Be well and do good.
