Addiction LXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We may have also crossed some lovely semi frozen streams.

Forecast is looking rainy most of the week; if it holds and falls in the morning, no podium for me.

Just looked at my weather app, and in Phoenix at 4:30 in the morning it’s 91 degrees. OUCH!

This mornings heat was sickening. On my ride I found my daughter one of those classic red cars she can be pushed in. It’s in perfect condition, also found her a mini trampoline.
Oh and I completed my goal of 500 miles for the month. Over all success. Now back to work.

I await the decision as to whether we are orange or red. I can ride in orange; not so in red. My guess is the outlying areas where I ride will be more conservative. Vamos a ver

Back in the 80s there was a guy who used to ride a popular route around the river with a cockatoo on his shoulder. A big one.

There’s a pro, can’t remember who, has posted several pics riding with a parrot on his shoulder.

edit: googled it and it was Michele Scarponi.

I do. I really only have 2 sets that I like to wear and an additional two that I'll willingly wear. Then a couple "break in case of emergency" that are better suited to the trainer.

My taint chafed just reading that.

A light spin might have helped this morning, but I'm good with having taken the day off, too. The legs are more sore than I thought they'd be - riding solo the vast majority of the year, I've been targeting threshold, but yesterday involved some good ol' town sign sprints, a couple of them a little longer than ideal. I did set a new peak output mark for the year, though.

Today’s ride was 1594kJ. Should be able to top 6MJ before the weekend. Of course, I have no context for what that means.
