For some reason, today the Litespeed felt better, and faster, than at any time in the 1200 miles I've ridden it so far. Too many possible variables to be sure, and no reason it has to be just one. Since Friday's ride - which felt good but not THIS good - I have:
I gotta say, the Litespeed feels dialed. FINALLY it's what I was hoping it would be.
- Raised the saddle 3mm and moved it back about the same, to match the Canyon which always seems to be my fastest bike.
- swapped out the Corsas for GP5Ks. And about time too! After 1100 miles, the tread on the rear is delaminating at the edges.
. I only paid $33 a piece, so I guess you get what you pay for.
- Spent a good 15 minutes trying to get the Fulcrum hubs adjusted to exactly the point just before you can feel play in them.
I gotta say, the Litespeed feels dialed. FINALLY it's what I was hoping it would be.

Boy this is a long Sunday and it's still too hot to go outdoors. Think I'll watch The Expanse a second time through.

Our gravel crushes and packs pretty well; I think it's primarily limestone. There can be a loose top layer, particularly when it's fresh, but tread doesn't really help much with that. It also doesn't get muddy when wet, so aggressive tread only hinders on the fast sections and doesn't really help much otherwise. Wet dirt trails, like the river bottoms, or a CX course? Yeah, the more knobby the more better.

No indeed, which is why I have a 290N inflatable. I was also told long ago that I would die first and my mates would eat me, but there’s another shrimp on this crew too and he’s a year or two older, so I might get to taste a little “long pig” myself if we get into an Essex situation.

Had dinner at the Dallas version of Carbone. Stuffed!
Dined at the New York related restaurant, The Grill, for my wife’s 50th.
Those guys know how to put on a restaurant!

Captain: Yes. Eat me.
Crew: Iiuuhh! With a gammy leg?

Back at work. Vacation over. Looking at the carnage left to me by the primadonas I work with. My tool crib has been violated. The bastards! They even stole my rubber boots.

The interesting observation from yesterday is that I cannot blame the weight, as the CX bike and my Habanero both weigh in somewhere around 19-20 pounds. I am pretty sure the main reason why mine is so slow on the road is rolling resistance from CX tires. That said, I ride it so rarely I am not rushing out to buy new slick tires for it. But one of these days....
