Shimano shifter cable will not come out

The right shifter cable will not come out of the housing on this 2021 shimano shifter. It looks like a plastic housing is preventing it from coming out. I have everything disconnected and when I push the cable it seems to be prevented from being removed. Can’t believe this, watched videos etc, should come out easily

any help appreciated

cable/

is in 1st gear? if the cable is in a higher gear it would be wrapped around the guide & never come out.if it is in low gear then could have a jammed cable head.if thats the case try shifting up & bring the head into view so you can use a small pick to unjam it.pushing it inwards may help free it.

Hi,

I was finally able to get the head showing and out. I pulled on the cable and continuously shifted inward like I was dropping the chain and the head popped out!!! I placed the new cable in the shifter and will finish the job later, thanks for helping, I almost was at the point of taking the plastic housing off but I was like, no way never seen this before. shouldnt have to take anything apart, glad i was right

next year electronic shifting

There is a removable access port on the bottom of that shifter, should you have trouble.
